Yeah the big one is but I have not had time to really mess with it. But I have the little one that works really good. It 's too small by itsell for my tank but thats why theres 2 right now :P
I couldnt for the life of me understand why Charlie didnt simply mod that thing to make it work instead of buying a new one ??? Well, i hope you got a good deal, i know for a fact there is a LOT of potential for that thing to be a kick a$$ skimmer!
Yeah he was going to throw it away so he gave it to me.
If I can’t make it work like a factory one, Justin showed me this pump and I would only need one.

Thats the pump i have on my monster skimemr for my 265g. It is a beast!!!
What kinda volume does it push out?
no clue
i know that the skimmer i can potentially make wont match the productivity of the ones on the market…but itll be like making mom a christmas card out of macaroni, sure it looks like poop, but mom always loved it, lol…
same here, i would just take pride in it, lol, i thinking of the acrylic for the phosban reactor more than the skimmer, although if i had to buy a minimum 5-6’, thats what i would do with the extra…
i didnt realize that was the unit price oooops lol, i guess ill keep diggin on craigslist and here till i find one to fit my needs…
also, how many gph would you recommend running through the phosban media? i know its suppose to stay relatively calm in the chamber, but today i went to value pets in south jersey, and they had one with the top layer blowing all over the place…just made me wonder…they also still have the rhizo coral i droll over everytime i end up around those parts.
Or you could build a really big 6 inch diameter, 6 foot tall skimmer out of regular white PVC for about $50 bucks, and use and an air pump and air stone to run it, with a poweer head feed pump and do pretty good too. It;s the bubble hang time in the water column that makes the difference. and some glass bead air stones make reak fine bubbles, and can be cleaned in acid and bleach when they plug up. saves power and cost. if you make a good design. just pop the cup off the top to see the foam and adjust the bubble flow.
speaking of pvc icy here is a cool design…havent seen this one yet

let me know what you guys think, it has two chambers, one to run phosban one for carbon…you could actually put what ever you want in the two chamers but i think thats what this person has.
looks pretty easy to build and i could just T something off to run water through it.

I’ve seen those canisters at the dollar store for Spaghetti and such that are acrylic or even some calligraphy places like National Decorative/ AC Moore/ Marshalls would probably have something of the nature
wow that ones nice, may have to try to acquire some tools to try that build.
thanks
