Cespitularia from start to growth

If the power head is on in the video leave it on as I would consider that moderate to low flow. If the power head is not on take a quick video with the power head on. (of just the Cespitularia and anthelia behind it)

yes its on. it sways them back away from the glass, but if thats not a problem great!!! My blue anthelia needs that flow, and im sure the whole tank does as well. notice the smaller colony perked up after the power head is on, its just the main colony doesnt stand straight up. When it get used to it will it stand straight up? also does it look pretty good, not to stressed?

Oh it is stressed for sure, but for having just came to your tank recently from an LFS then it is looking pretty good. These things are horrible shippers.

Leave it where it is for about a week then consider moving it to higher flow if it isn’t too difficult to do.

Here is an image of mine a long time ago when it was pretty happy.(in a lot more flow then yours is currently)

Note two species of Cespitularia in image. Darker blue is the “African blue” type I believe.

Jon

wow thats beautiful.

so mine will perk up and straighten out in the flow its in? Considering what you see, thinks its gonna survive?

also you from around pa/de? Im new to this forum, and i appreciate your helping me very much. I really dont have no one to talk to about this stuff, and reassurance in it is great!!! I always wanted to get the real dark blue stuff. I actually called about 10 stores today including where i got it and asked for this stuff, coincidently i found it by accident. lol

I actually had the dark blue stuff up for sale in our for sale forum recently, but sold out. I may have an extra frag I can let go though, I’ll shoot you a PM.

Sorry I can’t talk any more tonight I’m about to fall asleep and I promised my boss I’d work more on a website. I’ll post more tomorrow. I think there is a good chance the frag will survive though. It doesn’t look bad at all. Unhappy yes, bad no. Actually most of mine in my 75 frag tank look worse then yours due to excess heat a couple days ago. When they get ticked off it takes days sometimes for them to open up all the way.

No problem for the help at all. Glad to be help. I personally am in Newark DE and our club members are all around the area. Probably have several people in the same town as you.

Jon

sweet, really glad i found this site!! I look forward to getting to know some people around here.

as for the dark blue yea please shoot me a pm id love a frag!!!

again thanks for the help, ill post some more pics in the morning. hopefully it still looks ok!

I was only able to take 2 pic before my camera died, ( left it on all night by accident) here they are… Th main stalk doesnt seem to be standing tright up yet, it just sways up and down. The little stalks on the side seem to be though. Thoughts please :think)

They look fine, give 'em some time to fill out and acclimate and they’ll open up.

even though the flow right now is puhing them down… they will evebtually perk up all the way? It was pretty tall at the store before i got it…?

and abcd to everybody so far

yeah man, they will just be upset for a lil while. once they get used to their new home, and the water in your tank, chemistry, etc… they will liven up and blow up. nice piece too, if i might add.

some pics later in the day… Also please tell me if im posting too much. Theres also a pic of my dam sally crab eating my pep shrimp!! I will never get a ally again >:::

It’s fine if you post a lot in a thread you started. If you changed topics in a thread someone else started or if you created 30 new topics in a couple of days that would be annoying, but your fine.

Just incase I hadn’t said it before welcome to the site. I’m glad you like it and hope you are getting some useful advice/info.

Sally light foots most would consider as a non “reef safe” animal.(which is a complex term to use to begin with as they all have a place in natural reefs) They often mess with other inverts and small fish. Worst case it could become a sump animal if there are no large open intakes to your return pump. But then again your sump can not really serve as any sort of refuge from predation if you pop him in there.

i want to catch him and get him out lol, ill take him back. I just like the crab thing, but id rather have an apstasia free tank a they were excellent at that. I jut dont feed all the time bc its such a small tank and he must get hungry lol. any tips for catching him?

also the ces is looking a lot better today the little stalks especially.

and thanks for the welcome. yea ill try not to get off topics in other peoples thread, i can see how that would be annoying if someone did that to me

Try a “soad bottle with an inverted top” trap and some a good bit of food in the bottle. Here is an example I pulled with a quick google search. I am sure there are other pages out there with the same thing. http://www.instructables.com/id/Soda-Bottle-Fish-Trap/

man i had one that became an issue for me in my fish only tank. all i did was throw a lil piece of frozen brine shrimp in the net, and stick it down by him. he got a lil pissed at first, but once he smelled the food, he jumped right in the net. idk if this will work for you or not, but i think its worth a shot.

ps-make sure its still frozen, or else they will just eat what floats off and never get in the net.
