1 week after getting all of the DIY into the tank and all params still look good, no pH spike.
Only difference has been a slight diatom bloom on the sand, which was semi expected as the sand that I used for shaping the rock DID contain silicates, and some of that sand did become a permanent part of the rock. Its not a big bloom, and as soon as the diatoms eat whatever silicates that were introduced, were back to normal. Nature at its finest…
I’m not sure if the egg crate for the frag rack had any silica on it from a production process or not, but it started getting that brown diatom look on it pretty quick after entering the tank. The snails typically do a pretty good job of cleaning it up.
