ellen NICE!

i had the same feelings as you when i first started and then i started to get a real appreation for them. now i cant wait to set up a tank just for them. like anything in this hobby it will grow on you.
Thanks BZ. You are doing a great job with your sps! They are really growing well for you. My tank is looking a little rough right now. I spent quite a bit of time out of town this summer and my hubby had some troubles with it. He added to much alkalinity and I came home to my tank sitting at 14dkh. I run mine around 8-9 so this was a large jump. All of the tips on some of my sps burnt. Some were not bothered at all, and some started to rtn. The bad part was when I discovered this I only had 3 days to work on the problem before heading out again for another week away. Oh well things are settling down a bit now, and the corals that made it are doing just fine.

I was wondering what draws you guys to acropora, for some reason they all look the same and basic to me
Take a picture from a coral reef and just don’t look at it, see it. The diversity in the different make up of all the corals is truly amazing. Not just all the colors, but the structure of the colonies, some being long and thin, others are closely bunched together. The cup corals that form ledges that are like hands for the reef.
There truly is great satisfaction from starting with a coral frag of an SPS, sometimes no bigger than an inch, and watching it blossom into a full grown colony, right in front of your own eyes. The time and patience put into this hobby is well worth the reward.
Just watch the look on someone’s face when they see you have a piece of the reef in your own home.
PRICELESS!!!

I started out using an octo extreme 200 and switched over to a ATB 840 cone. The octo did a great job and the cone is doing an even better job!
