flatworms

a bucket of Flatworm Exit would probably work as well but you’d have to have some carbon and skimmer going for that to catch the toxins.
Not sure I understand what you mean there. I am picturing a 5g bucket with a skimmer in it and a bag of carbon.

Keep in mind carbon may remove FW exit from the water. If I remember correctly they tell you to remove the carbon during treatment of a tank and then add it immediately afterwards.

They are in my fuge but not really into the DT
I also had two tanks plumbed in line where one tank had the flat worms and one didn’t. The mandarin was in the tank that didn’t have the flat worms.

I know at least one big time coral farmer that has either a six line wrasse or a mandarin in most of his tanks to help control Flat worms. I’m also pretty sure this is a preventative as I know he uses QT.

Ive had the red planaria flatworms a couple times. the first time was before EXIT. i had to fresh water flush the whole tank to kill a really bad investation. i removed and blew off all the corals and dipped them about 15-20 seconds in RO water. and back in a holding tank. then drained the infested tank and refilled with tap water. let sit 15 minutes. and drain and refill with new salt water. then return the corals. it worked. 100%.

next time, years later, i had EXIT. it worked too. no harm to corals or fish. buti only treated it once. several months later FWs returned. The exit only kills adult FWs. and maybe larvae. eggs survive to hatch a week or two later. So exit should be applied at least twice over two weeks. maybe 3 times.

but then i tried the Lavamisole, Pig Dewormer, from home depot. as per threads on Reef Central. it worked too. 100% first time. but i dosed heavy, and left it in the water for 24 hours. some monti corals bleached, i losts some others. but had i stayed in the RC parameters, i think it would have been OK. no problem. Levamisole is on FDA hold for now. cant buy it. so Exit works. just do a follow up treatment to get the eggs when they hatch.

Yes, carbon removes the FW toxins and the exit or levamisole too. But the FWs let loose and float free when dead. your filter floss can pick them up before they decay and release the toxin. the carbon gets the rest. remove carbon to treat. then add lots of carbon, after they start dying.
