well my burgandy sea searpent got my koran angel

Are you sure it didnt get the angel after the angel died?

Whats the deal with these serpent stars? Ive hear conflicting things all the time on whether or not the will eat fish or any other animal for that matter. I was convinced that it was an urban myth that the stars were only consuming dead or near dead fish but then i see this?

Anyone have a take on this? Ive had one in my 34g for a while now with no issues. It even “hangs out” in my yasha’s burrow with it sometimes. Ive also noticed in the past that brittle stars are sometimes classified as semi-aggressive whereas it seemed that serpents were almost always classified as peaceful.

cant say. it was eating and out the first night, then was hiding back in a corner of tank cause he was scared too death of 2 clowns so he may have stressed and died. but was alive last time i seen him alive…lol lOl lOl he was really small in size as well. also getting picture of clam up had to buy new batteries for darn camera. could not find any the other night

I’ve had a green serpent starfish since Oct. of 08 and mandarin since May of 08 and two chromises from 06 plus bigger fish in a 75 gal. tank. I try to feed him well and he has not eaten any fish yet (keep my fingers crossed)

In my experience: The green serpent stars with yellow centers typically will eat fish. You can see them hunting for fish at night time when they stand up and seem to waive their arms in the water. That being said Marty has kept one for years with some clown fish and chromis. He couldn’t keep benthic animals such as small gobies and hawk fish though. Many fish know to keep away from them, but they are opportunist.

Most “serpent” and “brittle” stars will eat decaying fish.
