Help Me Choose My Next Fish

I forgot about that dottyback.
I got my fish order in, snail order was delayed. I have to say I am extremely unimpressed by LA. The fish were basically all babies and way over priced for such. Within 24 hours 2 chromis’s have died which was expected. All fish were extremely skinny with concaved stomachs. I didn’t start treatments yet just have them in a observation tank. I didnt want to stress them even more right after shipping.

Ugh. That sucks. I’ve had mixed success with LA. Divers Den at least you see the fish, but the prices are stupid high.

Hahaha I took a peak in there once and was like "oh, thesmust be the special fish. I’ll go back to the normal fish where prices appear in line " lol. People say great things about LA divers den. But I have never tried it.

The DD fish are just better taken care of. They go through some kind of quarantine (not one I’d trust, but something). They used to come from a different facility too, not sure after the acquisition if that is still the case though.

New fish friends, just dropped into QT

nice fish, good luck with it

Hmmm I think I may want another royal gramma now. I will wait for one locally after the whole LA experience.

Thank you!

Apparently grammas are in short supply at the moment. Supplier would only let Mike order one :man_shrugging:

With the toll the coronavirus is taking on old people, it shouldn’t be a surprise that there’s a shortage of grammas these days. (hey oh, rim shot).

Ouch… lol

Hmm, maybe that joke was in poor taste. Too soon, huh.

So far, so good with my new fish. Both are eating well and the gramma is no longer hiding when any of us come into the room. The chromis is still shy. 4 more days in CP and then off to observation for 2 weeks

These guys get moved over to observation tomorrow! The chromis is still very shy, but the gramma doesn’t seem to care when anyone comes up to the tank anymore, so that’s a plus

I only have 10g+ tanks left in the basement for observation setups, so I guess they’re getting an upgrade from the 5g they’re in right now. I’m going to do a water change in my DT today and tomorrow (without mixing anything up in the water) and use that for the observation tank. It will get them acclimated to the tank parameters. (Not that they’re much different than the QT) Hopefully in 2 weeks they’re both still looking healthy and I can move them to the display!

Tomorrow is the big day!

They look great! I have a gramma and chromis as well and like them both. Good for you for taking the time to quarantine.

They’re officially in their new home! I’ll start a new thread and post some pics (if I can get them).

You choice inspired me as well. Got a royal gamma but mine does not have the bottom fins. Atleast that I have seen. Could this be age or type ?

You may have a bicolor dottyback and not a royal gramma.

He finally came out of a roc to eat and i see the fins. it also has the dot on the top fin which grammas typically have. I did not know they were so shy. Hopefully he will come out more in time.
