Well of course they don’’’‘t last forever ,what does ?lol .But don’’’'t they last somthing like 15 years?
Does any one know of a strip light line the one I described I searched all over and can’’’'t find anything !

So what do guys think about the amount of water flow I wil be putting in this tank ? Do i have the right amount of powerheads ?How about the proflex sump I mentioned had anyone ever used it before ? Are there better options ?
FYI - I don’'t really wanna do a DIY Sump.
most leds are listed at 50,000 hours half life, now that means that the avg led will be half as bright after 50,000 hours. they are diodes and can fail just like any other diode too. Then you also have power supplies and drivers and various electrical components that are all susceptible to electrical failures.
Oh ok . But what about the sump and water flow
Better options for sump??? YES, build your own. A lot less expensive and a lot more customizable.
I really don’'t want to build one I feel like I would just mess up . I wanna buy one and just get things right.
http://www.fragswapper.com/trades.asp?SwapperKey=3105 here is the listing for the lights I mentioned. Sumps and water flow? I say pick a design you like with some extra space you can always use more room in the sump, hence the many recommendations for DIY, but there are a lot of good brands out there. and water flow it all depends on how the corals react. you may think you have the right numbers but until you have coral in the tank its just a guess.
i have 2 koralias in my 60 gallon currently. I think they are older k 3’’’‘s. I could probably add a nano for a small dead spot. I’’’‘m not sure if k nano’’’‘s will get the job done in a 75, but you don’’’'t know until the corals are in there.
For the price of that sump you are buying, i’’’‘m sure you could pay someone on the forum to make you one just as good for less ;). I think most people here have a DIY sump, but hopefully someone who doesn’’’'t will chime in!
My return pump is a quietOne 4000 (again for a 60 gallon with 20 gallon sump) and i had to dial the flow down a bit, at 4’’’’ of head it does about 700 gpm. I’’’‘d wager I have it turned down to about 500 gpm so it doesn’’’'t overpower my overflow.
Is your return pump 550gpm at 0’’’’ head or 550gpm at actual? Manufacturer? As long as you don’’’‘t pump more water than your overflow can handle, i think you’’’'re fine.
EDIT: off topic, but why is the forum doubling quotation marks? ‘’ ‘’ ‘’ ‘’ ← all single quotes.
I don’‘t Actully have a pump yet I’'m just planning on getting a 550 GPH pump
I have a 55gallon, plain jane, not drilled. Hang on overflow. Here is where the tank is a bit different from most. Alomst EVERYTHING is way oversized. Overflow is rates to 1800GPH, dual drain. Use a modified Eshopps wet dry:
Its a mess but you get the idea. 2 socks (1 for each drain hose) skimmer, small refugium where bio balls were and return. It was way cheaper than the other fuge models or most sumps. I have used return pumps from 500 to 1800GPH. The 1800 had lots of restriction from a SCWD wavemaker inline, closer to 950 actual flow. The skimmer is rated to 250 gallons. LOTS of rock for added bio filtration.
There are recommended ways of doing things and they are proven countless times. Or you can experiment, although costly, and find what works best for your setup.
The finnex fuge ray marine+ will support softies. 2 units will do LPS and some SPS depending on placement in the tank. Water parameters are more important than PAR in my opinion. I have kept SPS in 2 tanks, 1 high PAR the other low. Depending on species, some just dont require gobs of light. Nitrate and phosphate will make the corals terrible even with lots of light.
My problem hasn’‘t been keeping my water clean it has been keeping my water consistently clean , one bad week or something and then a coral dies or loses its color I’'m hoping to fix that by using a sump ,Rodi water, a more powerful skimmer and of course with the 75 a wider space for easier water flow.
So to finish this topic up how would you build a good tank if you had to work with the equipment i named and the species I mentioned?
Would you modify anything , brand , strength of product ect.
Add or take away anything ?
Any questions about the system I didn’'t post awnsers to !?
