new guy

Ok well I was doing some tank maintnance last weekend and ripped a green base with purpleish/brownish tentacles hairy shroom in 1/2, so I also fragged him onto a piece of rubble. If he is healed in time he will also be avalible. So far in my frag tank I have a frag of red skirt zoas, a 1 headed frogspawn (small), a 4 headed frogspawn, a toadstool, 2 button polyp frags, 2 antheila frags (3’rd one in the tank that needs to be fished out still), 8 single polyp yuma frags and one double polyp yuma frag. All should be ready to go by the time of the meeting. This weekend I am also cutting a frag or two of my purple base green tentacle hairy mushrooms and maybe a red shroom frag and/or a spotted shroom frag. These probably wont be healed and attached at the meeting but people are welcome to speak for them there and we can work out a time once they are good to go. Most other things I can also frag on request other than the LPS which depend on the growth rate. I could also get a small BTA to trade or two as well. One is spoken for but I can count 6 sitting here across the room (im sure there are more in there somewhere) and I would actually like to trim that number down to one eventually… so if anyone is interested in one let me know and we can talk about it.

So i keep hearing this interceptor talk on RC, but i can not find a thread that specifically talks about it. Does anyone know what its use is in the aquarium.

it’s used to kill red bugs.

Here’s a reliable link for info.
http://www.melevsreef.com/redbugs.html

and another recent arlticle.

Which covers a variety of bugs and cures. I’ve personally used the Lavamisole Hydrochloride(pig dewormer) on the old frag tank, that all the fish are spawning in to get rid of red planaria. I hate to say, i got carried away and over dosed for a longer time than reccomended on RC. i lost a couple SPS corals and a hipo tang. dont know if that was because the hipo is scaleless or it could have had an internal parasitic worm infestation, and the dewormer killed them and they went toxic. or the toxins from the red planaria dying killed it. hipos are more sensitive.

plenty more to read. I use
http://www.dogpile.com/
as a meta search engine. seems to get more hits.

Does anyone happen to have even half of one pill i could use? my red bugs are back and now i know how to hold them back. Or better yet, does anyone know if you can buy but only one pill from a vet without having a dog or prescription?

I think, that if you dip your acros with Red Bugs in a solution of Sprungs REVIVE it will kill them with no harm to the coral. He hasnt varified that yet with field testing., but a lot of reefers have tesitified to its results. you can give it a try.

you can also do a fresh water dip for 30 seconds, PH adjusted to 8 . the little red crustacean bugs, with the red dot on their butt usually stick to their host coral. and dont wander far in the tank. so dipping infested corals and rock can kill them.

Again, do more reseach on RC and other sources for the how to and actual results.

i was considering the dip but i one of my joe the coral’s is encrusted on a large rock i dont want to remove. i’ll see what i can do

i have some interceptor if you need it.

you have PM

pm back at ya.
