I hear they make a great fuge type filter. like a tank full of xenia.[/quote]

lol

Would suck though if they got out of the holding tank and into the DT…

you cant restrict them to a “holding area”, i’ve had them grow in my piping and go between fuge and DT in my old nano.

One guy had an idea to kill them using UV between two tanks. Though he never posted his results and I wouldn’t trust it. I’ve seen aptasia come back from being dried out in freezing conditions and even freshwater rinses. The stuff gets through a lot.

I like thinking outside of the box, but I think trying crap like that is worse then playing with fire.

my solution to my aiptasia problem was i bought 3 peppermint shrimp, this is when i had the 26 gallon tank, now the shrimp are territorial, and they have a chance of not touching the stuff which is why i bought 3 in a 26 but they ended up eating EVERY SINGLE ONE INCLUDING THE QUARTER SIZED ONES!!!

2 died in the nano crash just as i transferred to the large tank, and i’ve had one of them survive till sometime this month, unless the shrimp is hiding i’ve not seen him for a week and normalally he steals food from my banded star.

Pep shrimp are very good hiders. A couple days ago I was staring into a 90g tank for 10 minutes before I added some food and found 8 pep shrimp I hadn’t seen. The week before I added food and waited in front of a 265g tank looking for the 20 pep shrimp that had been added the week before. I didn’t see them until 15 minutes into servicing the tank.

There is a good chance it’s still in there. Though they also seem to be pretty sensitive little animals and seem to disappear in many peoples tanks for, “no reason”.
