icy, I will take the FW stuff at the meeting. I have a friend that I am sure could use it, or I may even use it myself as I am contemplating setting up a small FW tank.

The thanks Andy would look cool if we had little Drc members to go next to them.

Well as of this point I havent heard from the guy who was going to buy all of this stuff, so I’ll give you guys the same offer I was going to give him. You get the tank, all 3 light fixtures, the plumbing and the pump for 300$. If you are interested LMK.

Sounds like a plan.
Mini white cloves
Ok this name I picked just to describe the coral, but really I don’t have an ID on it. This coral looks similar to some of the corals whose images were shown in Sprung’s “Corals†under the, “New Discoveriesâ€ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ. Then again it also looks very much like a coral listed under the family Clavulariidae in Borneman’s “Aquarium Coralsâ€ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ. There is also a similar coral which has been refered to as “Blue Cloves” which has been sold on various sites online in the past. Different scientist based on these images might group them with in the same genus as GSP, Cloves, or even say they are in the same family as Xenia. Who knows.
They don’t seem to capture any food out of the water column and haven’t been rapid growers in the last year and half that I have had them.(though my bulbs are old and my tanks chemistry and nutrients levels have varied significantly) To me they do look closest to cloves, but definitely different and deserving of there own genus.
I doubt anyone else will have anything to add as far as the ID, but thought I would post and see.
Interested to see what they will do in other people’s tanks, so I’m going to sell off a frag now and perhaps a second one in a month or so.(when I get a chance to order more plugs and discs to mount them on.) I only have a couple, but I am curious to see if they will change color or grow larger or perhaps even if someone can get a better image that we can take a closer look at. Check Market Place.
pipe organ? does it have the skeletal stalks? i see it has 2 dstinct fans or polyps kinda likesome ogan are the stalks marroon in color?
jon where did u get them? i had anthelia that did that in my tank. basically the long flowing arms became short and stubby and looked EXACTLY like that. idk why, i guess predation or too much light. i gave the anthelia to bill.

Wondered that for a second myself. No visible stalks at all though. Tough to see the base too much in the images as there are sponges and algaes growing in the base. It seems to have runners that the polyps shoot off of more like clove polyps vs anything solid. Pipe organ is one coral I have not owned yet, but keeping an eye out for a small cheap frag to try out just to have more experience with.

I can not say exactly where they came from(as far as country or even wholesaler), but I am pretty sure I could narrow it down to one of two suppliers DPA uses. I’m 90% sure I fragged this off the base of some, “blue xenia”. Well at least that is what we ordered, what came in was a rock covered in anthelia with a little bit of this coral and a tiny bit of Briareum on it. The Briareum quickly engulfed the entire rock, but I managed to grab a small frag of this off.
clavularia sp.

clavularia sp.[/quote]
Is that a hunch or do you have a particular reason you say that?
clavularia sp. are also known as “8 tentacle polyps”.
