Skylite

FWIW… solar lighting comes up often. it can be done, but is not trivial. if you know for sure you will be in the hobby long term it may pay off though… here is a few threads:

in a nutshell though, there are multiple ways to do this- Drmacs is one, light tubes is another, a mirrored sky light is the last (to my knowlege anyway). Dr macs works if you want to essentially build a green house. the mirrored sky light works, but can be hard to build from my reading. the easiest is light tubes, but they oxidize, and the manufacturer can be hard to deal with…

I haven’t been to PacEast yet. However, in the “about us” section I can see what I’m fairly certain are light tubes. So you get to see both the natural light greenhouse side, AND the light tubes if I’m correct.

The two tubes on the left that exit from the drop ceiling:

Yes they are the light tubes. Just past those and to the left will take you out to the greenhouse.

So you get the trifecta of lighting from Mac’s. You have light tubes, natural greenhouse, and artificial all in a 1700 sq. foot building.

oh yea… forgot he had those tubes there…
I was really thinking about the tubes untill I came across the one thread above… after a couple of years the guys par dropped off very quickly…

I’m always too busy drooling over the livestock ::drool:: ::drool:: to notice lighting when I’m there.

I had the chanes to go to pea to day and holly sh@&!!! I’m going to get in trouble with this place wow wow wow!! O I think I’m going led with the lite I whant a 75g tank I mite put a skylite in for a biger tank.
