Weather update in MD

have had juice. there was a power surge, thats about it. lets hope it stay that way

11:45pm…still getting pelted with heavy rains and some strong wind gusts. Think I saw on TV that the center of hurricane will pass thru here @ 2am. Power still on.
Hope everything goes well for you and your tank Rosti. Good Luck!!!

Well, 12:15 AM sunday morning, the rain has slowed way down . must be between rain bands. wind?? not too bad. a survey of the front yard shows some maple tree branches down, but Oh Oh… 6 1/2 inches of rain in the bucket out back so far. Just talked to an old friend in NYC. She’s waiting for the heavy stuff to hit. it won’t be long. I’m pretty sure she’s not in the low flood zone in her part of Brooklyn. up the hill a bit. But still , the eye wall may go right over her place later. The state evacuated the assisted living facility she works at, today. moving all the residents to higher, drier ground. out of harms way.

So the storm goes on. We are coping by various means. And my dumb cat still won’t come back in…

But on a lighter note: It seems my new plenum deep sand bed has really kicked in the past 4 days, and the tank and frags and coral colonies have never looked better!! Algaes just melting away!! I will be really ticked off if another storm messes up my frag tank like it did after hurricane Isabel in 2003 again. Really ticked off!!!

But I have a Battery/Inverter backup system this time!!

Nyuck-Nyuck!!

sunday am in smyrna. not too bad. minor flooding in my back yard, all trees ok, exactly 8.51" total in 24 hrs, wind still strong in gusts to 19. power is fine.
light rain decent wind. may get worse a couple times in the near future, but, the really bad stuff should be basically over. hope it’s this insignificant for everyone.

N. Wilmington power still out, generator been running non stop for 11 hours now. Hope power will return today.

power finally went out around 6:45 this morning. battery back up had been running since then. all is fine for now.

lost power around 5 am here in marydel, de. but got generator running tanks and griddle for scrappel and eggs.

power is back up WHOO! still getting huge gusts, and pond is overflowing with water.

Everything is fine down here. :SURRENDER rain is gone, occasional gusts of winds. probally will never lose power ever again since I purchased generator the other day lOl Happy we didn’t get the severe weather that could have done more damage.
Hope everyone that has lost power gets it back real soon.

It’s still somewhat windy in Camden, but not bad at all. Minor flooding in the area, but not here.

yes, thx

Awesome!

how long was it actually off, brett and rosti?

Glad everyone has power back on!!! GolfC PBJ!
Rosti, what make gen do you have and how much of your home did you connect it to?

My power was out from 645 until about 9. So a little over 2 hours.everything looks good going to put up some pictures shortly

We had power out from 9 pm to 9 am.
It’s Coleman Powermate 5000watts.
I had, first of all (LOL) connected to reef tank. All functions remained normal (refuge lamp, scrubber lamp, return pump, reef keeper, kalk reactor, etc) about 150w
Second priority (LOL), 29g tank with Andrew’s stuff (corals and 2 clowns) 50w
Than sump pump, refrigerator, tv, few 60w lamps, microwave, toaster, coffe maker, wireless router. I think thats is it. Full tank (6gal) lasted full 10 hours, after refill in am power returned few hours later.

The only “issue” I saw is PH plummeted to 8.0 from 8.2 within few hours, because we all slept in basement (were tank is)and I couldn’t open any windows because of exhaust smoke from generator. Not a big deal anyway.

well, glad to say, having a battery/inverter back up ready to go scared the power outage gremlins away. if so, it was worth the investment. never saw a flicker of the lights all night long. much better than last big storm. I only have a few 4 inch tree limbs down in the yard and lots of dead wood branches, shredded leaves and pine cones everywhere. I’ll clean them up tomorrow. The wind was actually stronger today, but from the west. According to my bucket rain gage out back i got 9 inces of rain here since the start of the storm.

I’m glad to hear all your back up power plans worked too. this one could have been much worse, but kind of faded as it got near. and went a bit offshore instead of up through Delaware. that was good for us.

But NJRC probably hasnt faired as well. lots more power outages and damage in New Jersey and philadelphia area.
