I think one advantage to 24/7 fuge lighting is control of nuisance algae in the display tank. When the DT lights go out, any hair algae there will switch to respiration burning its carbs, while the fuge macro continues to uptake the nitrates and phosphates without competition. so when the DT lights come back on in the morning, the DT tank bad algae wakes up hungry to a smaller breakfast. and can be starved out over time. Thats why i use fuges.
it occured to me the benefits of leaving the lights on 24 hours while setting up my fuge considering the main rationale behind a fuge is nutrient export…i had read the statements about pH swings and was sceptical…always question data and put it to the test is one thing that’s been ingrained upon me…i also have had experience with plants studied botany for a few years which afforded me a greater understanding of the plant world than most
