10 Watt LED

Anyone see the new 10 watt LED bulb that is out there now. Does this mean you can use less bulbs per fixture? Interesting

They got led even bigger then that

while the 10W leds may be promising, they are not yet ready to live up to the rigors that we put our lights through. ive been reading up on these whenever i see a new article posted on them. some are saying that the longevity of these arent what we are used to with current 3 watt leds. almost equal to that of a MH bulb in terms of lifespan. this is because 10 watt leds are simply an array of multiple led chips on one thermal pad/heat sink. in close proximity, the diodes heat up too quickly and the heat transfer is not as efficient as it need to be, thus drastically reducing the lifespan of the bulbs.

now on the other hand, i have seen some fixtures with a bunch of 3 watt leds and 2 10 or 30 watt leds in the center(think t-5 and Mh combo in terms of power output ratio) these higher watt leds are only utilized to simulate high sun around noon time when the sun is at its strongest. the only stay on for 2 hours or so and then turn off. this enables them to last longer. IMO i would stick with the 3watters, they are tried and true. the 10watters and above are just not ready yet.
