Greetings from the North!
Thanks to Craig for letting me share my event with your club!
I wanted to reach out to my southern reefing brothers and sisters to formally invite you all to come up to the 6th annual Frag Farmer’s Market at my school in CT. I run a coral propagation project at the high school that I teach at in Storrs, CT (check out the project at www.eosmithcoralproject.org) and each year I open up the doors to the school to host a “Frag Farmer’s Market.” My plan was to host an event with the set-up fee so low that anyone from the big store to the hobbyist could set-up a tank and sell their homegrown crop. My whole focus of the school project has been getting the kids involved in green reef keeping and trying to find better ways to so the Frag Farmer’s was just an extension of that. I figure if I give people a venue to make money by selling frags, they are more likely to do more of it, making more homegrown stuff available to all of us. In the long run, it is our future!
The event has grown to a huge deal up in the Northeast (this is year #6), with “vendors” coming from all over New England and beyond. I get lots of the big names from Boston (Hiller, and some of the shops out that way), NYC, up north to go with the big names in CT (Puppy Center, Exotic Aquatics, etc…) With a total of 30+ vendors and FREE admission, it ends up being a great day for everyone. I know it is a haul for you guys to come up but it might be worth jumping in a carpool and checking it out. If you decide you want to come up, or need info on maybe coming up to sell, feel free to get in touch either via message here, or shoot me an email at swansonjl@hotmail.com
True it is a ride for you guys but if you have the time and want to come up, I just wanted to reach out to you to let you know it was going on. I am over 20 “vendors” already and growing so it looks to be big again, I’d love to have you guys find your way up for the day.
Here is the long awaited FFM list! I am more or less full (I can make room for one or two more if I need to…). My appologies to everyone whose name I messed up somehow (or location is incorrect). I am putting together the raffle list this week sometime and will release that info as well. See you all there!

Jump in the car and come up for the day I’d be glad to chat with you! Actually I’m really lucky that I am right in the middle between Boston and New York so I can draw from both ends, not mention every other direction. I am also very lucky in that I can run it at the school so I can allow people to set-up on the cheap, only a $30 donation to the school for the space, and I provide water. It has grown out of control this year and looks to be another sweet FFM! Thanks for the compliment.
This represents only the items that I have in my hands at this time or have confirmation that they are coming. There is a somewhat large list of items that are coming in the mail still or I have yet to confirm. I will post updates in the next few days as wel get closer!
Frist off thank you to CaribSea for providing a massive amount of water for this year’s FFM. I will still be mixing water to make up the few gallons I will still need but they really have supported the FFM and my project from the start and I owe them big time! They may also have sent up a bit of Purple-up. Come early it disappears FAST!!!
Also thanks to SeaChem for offering to provide Reef Dip for people to take home and use for the frags that they pick up. I will have a number of “vials” of it available that day. Grab one and be safe!
