225 GALLON (slow) TANK BUILD

Nice Job! It looks like you’ve finally BOTTOMED-OUT!!!

Looks like the tank cleaned up nicely. YahoO Now just don’t break the replacement glass too. verdict_in

Is the top pic all cleaned up with the replacement glass panel and put back in place?

Either way, that’s a LOT of work to do - I give you mad credit for that undertaking!

Lastnight we put the finished tank back in place!! YahoO now he just has to re plumb it all and fill it with water! Let’s go A hurry up! I told him I would of had it all done lastnight and filling if it was my tank!

Wow I just read this whole thread Murphy love you lol. I cant wait to see this done

Yup, that first pic is with the new bottom glass. Believe it or not it wasn’t that hard. The hardest part was scraping off all of the old silicone and with Jason’s help trying to figure out how to put the bottom back on.

He had the good idea. I silicone the bottom glass to the frame then we silicone all around the top edge of the bottom glass. Both him and I pick the tank up and my daughter slide the frame with the bottom glass under and we just put the tank on top for the weight. We then silicone all around the inside of the tank. It didn’t take but probably 20 minute.

Yeah, I f’n hate murphy that day. He tormented me. Stay tune for the build.

UPDATE on the rebirth: 11 August 2014

It was a pretty busy and fun weekend for me. Finally get to do something that I love to do. I got everything done except for the water. Water is still being made in the containers. Reuse everything that I have and made little adjustment to the plumbing and that was it.

I ended up using one of the milk crates again. I thought I had enough rocks to kinda fill in the tank, but I guess I had sold some of the rocks that the corals were on so now I have less. Gonna have to get some more later.

Here are some of the updated pics.

Looking good

Exciting A, looks great. Like the low profile rock work.

NICE!!! I have a couple more decent rocks you can have. I put them in the covered curing barrel after You and Casey came by. They look pretty clean now. or after you get the water in and some bacteria start going. say when.

a great start A. best of luck.

Thanks guys. Ken I’ll take you up on that.

We got water! it been filling for ever. Still have the rest of the tank, sump, refugium and a small frag tank still need to be filled. Maybe it’ll be done by this weekend. LOL

About dam time! JuMp ThIs

Well, if I was home all day like I was. Then it would have been done a long time ago. Then again I wouldn’t be having any money to buy stuff. LOL

Dag!!

I would have used the hose and some prime - lol. I have zero patience for RO water anymore.

You’re absolutely loving it though - new builds and re-births are the best!

Looking good A ::thumbsup::, good luck with your new tank!!! GolfC

Thanks Todd. I want to do it right this time. I’ve learn to have patience, I can wait.

Thanks John. I’m excited and so far so good.

Do you got enough sand in there A… hahaha

Oh, what kinda sand are you using? fine aragonite for a semi deep bed? you could add a bottle of Instant Ocean Bio-Spira too to jump start it.
