Well, not much really to update. Tank is still going through cycling. Test the water again and it still shows the same measurement as last time 2 days ago. However, the smell is not as bad, but there still a scent in the air.
Protein skimmer was running wet and starting to accumulate some dark color skim mate. Not tea color as one would normally sees, but dark gray color like sewage. I turned the skimmer down a little to get a drier skim mate.
Also, I started adding some bio pellets today. I read and found what is new to me is Reef Interests All-In-One Bio Pellets 500ML. It supposed to help with lowering Phosphate 10x and Nitrate 5x without have to use 2 different product. I’ve used TLF bio plastics before with great success, but wanted to try something new without having to spend too much money.
Now it’s just a waiting game and waiting patiently. grrrr
FTS
Frag tank
Refugium
Sump, protein skimmer, Bio pellets reactor and other reactors
Ya kno you have a lot of pages and iv been reading all of them from the beginning, but I cant seem to remember if anyone has said this before , but you have one heck of a nice setup.
Looks great AJ! The few extra pieces helped round it out without filling the tank with rock before you add corals. the corals will have vertical space to fill and still leave some room for cleaning glass and fish to swim. Its gonna be good. you can grow some nice large colonies in time and it wont look crowded. just enough rock for foot holds and contour.

Thanks Casey. Maybe by the time you get back, some if the sticks maybe big enough to frag right now they are still small. LOL[/quote]
That’s the story of caseys life. (Kinda small) :-)###

Little bit to up date. Test the water today and showing a good sign. I guess it will not spike at all. The test result all show the same numbers or 0, but never higher.
I took the raw shrimps out of the tank last week and boy was that thing stunk! luckily I did what Todd said to do and put it in a mesh bag. Because it would have gotten all over the place, even though some smaller pieces did manage to fall out between the hole of the bag, but its all gone now.
Here are the water parameter that I tested today:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: .25 ppm second color shade from 0
Nitrate: 5-10 ppm
PH: 8-8.2
Alkalinity: 9 dkh
Phosphate: 0 but did not test low level phosphate
Calcium: 420
Salinity: 1.025
did not test for Magnesium ran out of the test kit.
Ken stop by yesterday and brought me a frag of purple tip digitata to test out the water, thanks Ken. So far so good, we’ll see how it will do in a couple of weeks. Then maybe I’ll start adding some sticks slowly and surly after.
Not trying to step on LFS toes, but when I got my initial cleaner pack, I did the build your own from Live Aquaria. All of their prices include shipping if it’s over $75 total, and they have a great selection to choose from and of course LA’s arrive alive guarantee is excellent.
Well, the brown diatoms are mostly gone, but still a little left. Now the hair algae are getting out of control. Hopefully that will also go away very fast, but it seems to grow too fast to control. Have to find something to feed on it. Ken’s donated purple digi is still doing very well along with 3 other donated frags. We’ll see how things go.
Cool. They’re great animals, but since they eat so much, it would probably be a good idea to have a plan to either return it or pass it along to someone else who could use it. Back in VB, the club had ownership of one and the thing was big. We passed it along to all kinds of different members just to keep it fed.
