So I didn’t really have time to document setting this thing up, but here are a couple of pics as of now. There are a couple of corals left in there, but they will go as soon as someone wants them.
And my new little buddy! Hopefully he will be okay, you hear a lot of horror stories about these guys when they are this small…
And a couple of my other new little buddy, our baby girl and her big sis.
I cannot believe the amount of crap that my Seaclown is pulling from this tank. My salinity is a bit high (1.026-tried to match the old tank) do you think that could be a factor? Or is it just sponge/whatever die-off from the move over?
Any of you previous FO guys (Shawn, anyone) have a suggestion for CUC? I’m sure the trigger will eat them eventually, but that’s okay. I have some bleached coral skeletons in there, and they’re starting to turn brown. I want to find something that will get in the nooks and crannies.
Loving the little clown trigger! Make sure to feed him atleast 4x a day! As far as a clean up crew goes, I can’t have one. I have a clown trigger and klunzinger wrasse that will probably eat everything, and I have another rare trigger on the way YahoO so I am sure CUC will just be me. I run BB and a 65x turnover rate, so it helps, and just vacuuming out the bottom when you do water changes. Goodluck with the new tank and congrats on the new baby girl.
Urchins seem to be the only tried and true method for a CUC in an agressive FOWLR. If you keep the boys well feed there shouldnt be issues but you can never say never with some fish. With my 265g i plan to use my “rabbit snails” as a CUC. The plan is to have them reproduce faster than they can be consumed which i dont think will be a problem.
So far the snails have been safe, but the hermits ar ebeing massacred. The little trigger is really the boss of the tank at this point which is awesome since he is about 1.5" long!
