90 Gallon Rebuild

I should really have started this thread about 6 months ago when I moved and rebuilt my 90 gallon…

I went barebottom, tossed 75% of my liverock and really tried to maximize water volume and movement. I’ll have to take some updated pics.

Here is one of my new starfish.

Such a tease, we know you have better shots then that. Where the FTS!

Full tank shots are hard. I might try this evening when I have some control of the ambient light in the room.

good call on the bare bottom! It was the best move I have ever made in the hobby!

better late then never Jason ::thumbsup::

I took a bunch of pics and video tonight. I’ll try and put something together tomorrow. In the meantime, this should hold you over…

That has got to be the most simplistic aquascaping I’ve ever seen. I like it.

Nice and simple. Lots of growth. I like it also.

A good place to start is where the tank was earlier this year. The rockworked looks nice in this pic but it was just lots and lots of dead rock. No color, no life and it was a detrius trapping machine.

In July I moved the entire system and went very minimal. After looking at the before and after shots I’m thinking there is a happy medium that I’m missing. I’m considering adding one more layer of base rock underneath the existing rockwork to provide a larger cave system for the fish and give the tank a little extra height.

Back in late 2009 I picked up a small colony of zoanthids for my 24 Gallon. Three years later they have colonized a massive chunk of live rock.

This was my ORA Red Planet frag the day I purchased it from DPA in July 2010.

ORA Red Planet (July 2010)

This coral has more than tripled in size but a vast majority of that growth has been in the last 4 months. The coral didn’t really grow for the first two years that I had it and it wasn’t until the rebuild that I’ve observed a growth spurt.

This is my biggest success story. My ORA Tri-Color Valida that I also purchased from DPA in 2010. It’s a mother colony now.

Another success story with another Valida. This time it was a 1" frag that I got from Logans_Daddy in Dec 2009.
