92 Gallon Pics Dont Laugh

Your GSP and it looks like akenya tree maybe… they look like they are loving life!

I would never laugh at you tank as I think it is coming along nicely. Kenya tree was my first coral also. Any chance of hiding the heater in the overflow area?

On a side note watch what you put on top of the sump stand it looks a little unstable.
Maybe I should host a Tank stand or bar building DIY presentation BoNg :BEER

a great start. Now just close your eyes and picture 2 more years of growth, purchases, and learning. Do you like what ya see? you will see it all happen just takes time.

Yeah that thing is so unstable. My orignial plan changed when I ran out of screws and patience. I have to take it apart later this month and build a good one.

Looks like a great start to a great tank.

Looks like a good start. It does look like your softies are loving life. Rock looks healthy as well. Good foundation. What are your stocking plans?

It stinks when the fish get camera shy.

Awesome!! Nice to see the tank back up and running. Which i had thought about using Koralias - I couldn’t attach anything to the overflow box.

Looks really good. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks everyone.

I need to get the Nitrate down. I still cant get this darn G2 skimmer to work without changing it everyday. It wont collect more than an inch of skim. Then the inner tube for the collection cup becomes clogged.

I have read over 20 pages or reef central and I still have no answers. But I am going to try these things tonight. I already raised the thing months ago. So now I am going to add a t to the end connected to the exit tube.

Next I have the gate valve mod. But it is above the waterline. I am going to put the valve so exit pvc slightly under water.

If that doesnt work then I will have remove the gate valve.

If that doesn’t work then i will need some thing strong in my personal collection cup!!!

The G2 is a good skimmer so the unit clogging could be that you are skimming too dry. The exit is too high wet skim, too low dry. The gate valve eliminates this issue.
The gate valve and/or exit pvc can not exit under water it will cause the unit to have additional back pressure and will overflow the collection cup.
Here is my ASM G4X+ which is the big big big brother of the G2
I added the gate valve which allows the skimmer to be dialed in easily. It works well with the gate valve mod with the exit at the lowest level for the pipe. Check out how high the pipe can go and where I moved it too (lowest possible height)

It really is the big big big brother to the G2

This is Craig’s (Cdangelo) from the tank of the month with a G2

OK I am thanks for the picks and the advice. I tried to get it going last night by lowering the exit/gate. I am waiting 24 hours to see if the foam created is good enough. I have it so the return pvc is elbowed into the water but the elbow is the same height as the ridge of the collection cup. It was standing in about 5 inches of water but I have it in about 10 inches now.

I have to get this damn thing working. If i dont then I cant continue with my new years day domination plan!!! LOL

Actually mine’s a G3.

Try closing the gate valve by an extra 1/4 turn and skim slightly wetter - should help with keeping the neck from getting clogged.

The gate valve mod is the best mod for the skimmer. It allows you to dial in the water height without having to guess how high to raise the pipe. Also a 1.5 or 1.25 inch gate valve is not available at lowes or the depot. They sell gate valves but they are not the correct size. If you have a 1.25 inch valve from there it is a ball valve. This will not make dialing in the skimmer easy. Only works well with a gate valve. A gate valve looks like the ones pictured above. It looks way too big but it allows detailed tuning. Also it cost about $25.

My best guess is that you have a ball valve

No I have a gate valve from Savko.

I thought your neck was a little longer than mine.

Yeah I am going to trial see if that 1/4 works.

I am so tired of this damn thing!!! I have spent the most money on this one item and can’t get my tank to be what it needs to be without it!!! I can’t get it to collect more than the following picture. The neck gets clogged. No one can seem to pinpoint what the heck is going on with it. Im sorry for complaining but having to spend 300 bucks for a new one is just horrible. IM SO DONE RIGHT NOW.

If anyone can help please do.

Prior collection can never get more than this amount no matter how long.

Some help. Follow the colors to there respective arrows

Remove this pvc or shorten to be above the water line. It may splash but by not having it below the water line there is not a variable back pressure.

Remove or this will become a collection area for crud and nitrates

Push the gray tube all the way down and the elbow should not have any kind of extender between the elbow and the gray tube.

OK. Will do. I will let you know. Thnks in advance for trying. just frustrated.
