Thanks Ian. I finally beat the cyano that was growing on my sand. I think I willed that crap away!! LOL…

Everyone seems to get along real well. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sweet! You killed it sans chemicals?

Yeah. I just kept up with the weekly water changes, new GFO and carbon. I hope it is gone for good because I will never be able to keep up this kind of water change schedule with my work hours. Twice a month is my usual routine and this has always been enough.

Thats great, I couldn’t lick it w/ just water changes and siphoning and had to do chemicals (although I almost got it a few times). I don’t run a GFO so that could be why. Hope it stays away for you!

One very important feature of your aquascaping is the smaller amount of rock. too many of us start filling an empty tank with rock to the brim. it looks ok with a few small frags on it at first. but if and when we let them grow and mature, suddenly there is more rock and coral in the tank than water. there simply is no room for the corals to stand. that is a problem with my old 75 that im slowly dismantling. Like Julian was talking about, suddenly the bioload is ramped up, while flow is blocked by all the rock and corals. dead flow zones grow and detretis builds up and things get ugly and out of control.

Your rockscape allows plenty of room for corals to grow and still not pop out of the water or crowd the glass. My next tank will be lighter on the rockscape too.

Ellen when can me and Ian come check out your tank?! Its awesome.

Thanks. You guys can come anytime. I am usually around on Sunday’s. It is a drive though if you live up north. I am in Magnolia. If you are heading down to Dr. Macs sometime I am on the way south.

Yeah I lost my huge colony of ora green birdsnest and a few other smaller pieces. If you have a small frag of my birdsnest I would love to get a piece back.

I like the open look.
