My black lab Bandit has not been eating for a few days. We took him to the vet today and they did an x-ray and found a mass where his stomach should be. We will go back for an ultrasound on Monday but they really only expect it to confirm what they already believe, that it’s inoperable and he will need to be put to sleep.
He’s only 4 years old and has really been the greatest dog ever. As all of you with dogs know, they are as much a part of the family as your children and this has been an absolutely heartbreaking day for us. I really don’t know how we’re going to get through the holiday this weekend knowing what Monday is going to bring.
My apologies if I’m not myself for a little while - I feel like I’ve been punched in the gut and am about to lose one of my children.
I know no words will help, heal or cure the pain this news has brought to you and your family. It’s not just your dog bandit it’s your son. At the risk this may help you put a temporary bandaid over this wound I am sorry for your obstical you face in the near future but for now I hope you and your family can try to enjoy the holiday that you do have with mans best friend and make the very best of it. Merry Chritsmas and again I’m sorry.
craig, we lost our best stewart on halloween, suddenly. it’s hard, very much so. i cried yesterday in an unexpected memory. time does heal though. hang in there. think of the best times. i’m really sorry to hear about happening. dogs just are the best, and all we can do is try to be nearly as good as they are.
I pray for the best, and if you are looking for a second opinion I would highly recommend the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, it has been listed as one of the top ten animal hospitals in the nation.
Sorry about your dog. I had a similar situation when my children were young, we had to put down our dalmation, who was only 3 yrs old. Broke our hearts. But we have never forgotten Sparky, and never will. Be strong.

Unfortunately things went exactly as expected.
At 11:30 Monday morning Bandit found a huge colony of bunny rabbits in heaven that he can chase as much and as long as he wants. [/quote]
so sorry, but look at it in that he really did not suffer and is better now. we suffer.
So sorry for your loss Craig. Been through it several times with many four legged best friends. You will always have the good memories. And every time I go through this I swear never again but sure enough somewhere down the line another four legged friend comes along to steal your heart. I hope you have one come along too
there is no love or devotion like your family and that includes our four legged friends.
