A little about me!

First off I want to take a minute and thank anyone and everyone who nominated and voted for myself for president for this year, I must admit it was a shock to see my name being thrown out there but I will tackle this position full force and give it as much dedication and attention I possibly can.

Now a little about me for those who don’t know me,

I’m Casey Hullette, born and raised in NC. I started my first saltwater tank back in 2003 as fish only and slowly migrated to reef keeping. I got married Jan 2010 and shortly after that I enlisted in the USAF that February and shipped off to boot camp and tech school until July when I arrived in DE. I came across Delreefclub shortly after and met A. Johnson (former President) and he got me in the swing of the club. I purchased a new tank from one of our previous member Ellen (entoreef I believe) which was a 50gl rimless reef I started. Just after setting it up and getting it rolling and healthy I got orders to Kuwait for my first deployment so I took the tank down. While gone my wife moved back to NC for the support and comfort of family and had our first child Tripp (that you all have met). Upon return of that deployment (April 2012) we purchased our first house allowing me to upgrade to a larger reef, however I set the 50gl back up as bare bottom and finally started getting great growth and having a lot of success with the tank. Not long after, a great member notified me of a steal on a 220gl rr tank so I jumped at the opportunity. The build was suppose to be very slow and only when money permitted…We all know how that goes. I custom build the setup from the ground up, minus the tank itself. I built the stand, canopy, customized a 40gl breeder for a sump and a 20gl high for the refugium. Just after getting the tank settled and happy I received orders for my second deployment, this time to Afghanistan. Just before leaving in March of 14 we welcomed our newest addition to the family, Finnley. While gone from April-oct of 14, amazing members from the club Jason (beadlock450r), A (reefman) and Tim (dunk) took care of my tank and maintained it for me while I was away.
Sense being back I have tried to devote all of my time to the family for lost time and involving them in my participation in the club and its activities.

So here we are Feb 2015, elected to be President of this FINE club of AMAZING people, I hope I can fill the shoes of those before me and make this club the best I can.

What will I do for us?
With my other officers we will-

  • Organize a great frag swap, with great vendors, hobbyist and a lot of fun.
  • Arrange a great summer BBQ for the club to get together and have a great time and let loose.
  • Work with our local sponsors, and possibly host us for meetings and hopefully recruit new members for 15’
  • Make a members tank tour happen
  • Bring new and exciting sponsors
  • Be open to suggestions of the members and try to make changes that EVERYONE would like to see.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and again I hope I can keep everyone in this club happy and drive this club forward to be a great 1 day a month get together of hobbyist.

Great ideas! Let’s make it happen!

Congratulations again Case!!

As previously stated, we’re all here to help and support you. Those of us that have served before are very familiar with a lot of what has worked, and more importantly what has NOT worked in the past. Anything you need, feel free to reach out. Want to bounce ideas off someone, need help navigating the back end of the site (that the mere mortals have never even seen), need to know where to get the DRC President Keg re-filled…just ask.

Thanks for the kind words and great welcoming everyone, I hope I don’t disappoint as this years President. I may ruffle some feathers for striking new ideas or new suggestions but hey, what’s new leadership for right?

Craig, where’s this presidential keg you speak of, may need that when I start mentioning change bahaha JK JK JK

Congrats Brother. Have any questions about the club or anything, just let me know. Especially about the frag swap. Good luck!

I’d like to offer our home for the BBQ this summer. We live in Hockessin and have a huge yard and lots of parking, perfect for something like this.

Where were you last summer when I was planning for that. LOL

:SURRENDER I wish we were here last summer. Just bought the house in December.

Congratulations Casey!

I’m available to help out with the frag swap any way I can.
