I have a few BTAs in my tank and I occasionally feed them frozen food from the LRS. Since my local fish store has been closed I’m running low. In my experience my BTAs do better with occasional feedings although I’ve read plenty of people in the hobby have great success without supplemental feeding.
Has anyone had any success feeding them dry food (krill, etc)? In a pinch I guess I could pay for overnight shipping but I’m trying to avoid that extra cost.
I don’t feed mine at all. If they get food it’s from what the fish dont eat after the feeders dump or when I broad feed the system reef roids.
I stopped feeding mine also. They are doing fine and still multiplying. But you can go to the grocery store and buy shrimp, or fish fillets and cut them up to small pieces to feed them. I used to feed mine silversides from local aquarium store. Shrimp are cheaper.
Agree with what everyone else has said they get whatever floats their way. Used to feed silversides. They are doing just fine without being feed
I feed small shrimp pieces twice a week. But mine is in a tank with low light and 1 fish so I feel there isn’t much in the water. With lighting for most reefs is probably 90% of the food, then getting broadcast probably makes up the other 10%. I think it depends on the environment it is in.
