I was looking at my tank and i noticed these little white looking flea type things moving on the glass. could that possibly be copepods? Also on the glass are like circular type things stuck on my glass any possible explanation on what it is?
Pictures would help, but it does sound like copepods. You have snails in your tank? that might be the answer for circular thing on you glass.
i will get pick right away and i had snails but not no more
sounds like pods to me, pics would help on the circle things though!
I see the spots on the glass but it looks like coraline but if you say there moving not sure what they are by that pic.
those are the circular little things they are not moving they are just stuck on my glass
Barnicules(sp?)
Are they hard or soft?
It looks like coraline algae in it’s early stages to me, but could also just be calcium deposits on the glass.
its hard
These a snail of some sort I just do not remember the technical name. I got them in my first tank. The spots you see are spiral shaped and dont really move. sometimes they will move but ever so slightly. I am not sure how they come about but they do. You can scrape them off since they attach pretty well on the glass and they are hard/calcified.
ok just making sure my tank wasnt getting invaded lol. but yur right on the money on what it is
so i think they are call nerite snail eggs
nerite snails lay eggs in a group. nasso snails will lay like that, if they are hard could be small feather dusters? check them out with a small magnifying glass and take a pic through it nasso snails you have a clearish sack with litle eggs inside.
Its not a egg. It is some type of snail. I remember talking to all the lfs about it when I had them. The biggest I have seen them is around a 1/8". Sucks when you get them on a acrylic tank.
The main thing he is referring to isn’t a snail or snail eggs, but actually technically a segmented worm. Funny they were referred to earlier in the post as “spiral shaped” as that is how they get their common name, “Spiral tube feather dusters”. They are Spirorbids that hitch hike in on LR. You can think of them as sorta miniature spiral shaped version of CoCo worms.(Protula magnifica)
The flea like critters are most like amphipods then copepods. Amphipods are more commonly larger and more frequently seen and described as fleas then copepods. Isopods, mysis shrimp, amphiods, and copepods can all be found in a mature healthy aquarium as well as tons of other critters.
now ive had 4 fish die on me in 4 days. first my powder brown on thursday. then my powder blue yesturday and now my clown and blue hippo today. i think its ich but im not sure
You think the “fleas” you see are ich? Ich is invisible without a host, I’m not even sure you can see the actual parasite when it has a host. I believe the white spots you see on fish with ich are the sores creasted from the parasite burrowing in to the skin.
Have any of the fish shown any signs of distress? Any scratching, scraping, or white spots?
What are the PH, SG, and Nitrate levels in the tank?
well thats what i was thinking cause it was ok till i brought some live rock from my friend and put it in my tank and they started to die. they did look like kinda pale like they had sand stuck on them. my levels are good.
Well there’s a couple things to consider.
First - what do you consider “good”? Have you tested for ammonia?
How did you get the LR from your friend? How long was it out of water? Did you stir up any sand when putting the new LR in the tank?
