Paul, I think if you have very low nitrates in your tank the cheato will not do well. Check this with others.

you may be right on that, John. i don’t test much nitrate. maybe the clams consume it. btw. i just couldn’t stop by from the drmac; time was really limited. left my house at 9 home at 1. very little drool time.

I agree, the better my water gets, the slower it grows. I’d offer some Paul, but i thinned mine out pretty good in both tanks a few months back, and its barely been growing, maybe just “maintaining”. I even replaced the bulb…
I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try though.
I am having trouble keeping it alive too. I have been thinking of switching to the screw in LED fixtures or adding additional light.
i have a par 30 screw in light on the fuge. not the greatest spectrum. lotsa light, but nada lives.
