Anyone know of a good glass shop?

Remember the concern is not necessarily the patches or the holes, rather the SPACE between the holes.

In the picture, look at where the holes are placed. The weight of water and rock will be placed directly on a small piece of glass that has been substantially weakened by the drilling. Now enlarge the holes further and there becomes LESS glass to support the weight. It already looks like there’s just a few inches of glass between some of the holes.

Some of the holes really aren’t that close together, otherwise I would patch more then one hole with one piece of glass. the bigger the glass piece, the more the weight is distributed and the stronger the hold will be. I am not worried about the tank leaking, but am concerned with it breaking. I am not drilling the tank any bigger, I am leaving it alone. I will have 3 drains (3/4") along the back and two returns (3/4") in the middle of the tank. The rest of the holes are getting patched. I am not in a huge rush to get it running, but can’t have this monster just laying around either. I will let everyone know how it goes, I just got quotes from glass cages, so I will be getting the glass soon. Thanks for everyone’s help.

DPS is correct 3/4 inch base glass is pretty thick. I checked my 210 and its 3/4 also

huh? you have a 210g?

He’s holding it for me.

Thats what she said…

lOl…good job michael!

Joe, were you the one that bought the consignment tank from DPA?

He got it free off the forums. I believe it was supposedly leaking but turned out to be a plumbing problem and the tank is fine. I’m shocked an AGA tank is 3/4".

wow, i guess some people have all the luck GolfC

No, I didn’t buy the DPA tank. I may look again for a large tank again next summer. We are officially expecting number two YahoO (in July), so I wanted to pare it down a bit for now.

well joe congrats…but ya know this just turned your summer fishing into diaper changing lOl

HAHA Thanks man! I hope we can get out in May/June enough to make up for it!

Ok, way to confuse me. I assume joe was joking, and the tank is really als?

Yes, it’s Als.
