I’m getting a lux meter off amazon so i can do the conversions and such, but i wanted to know if anyone else has used a PAR meter before. i am really hoping this well help me dial in my lights since i ahve no clue what to set them at and i don’t want to burn things out by having them too high or lose things cause they are too low.
Lux is a perfectly good measurement for you to use. The club has two PAR meters you can borrow. One is broken pretty severely and I’m trying to get it fixed. The other connects to your computer and works fine.
The issue with par meters is the light source. They don’t accurately measure LEDs. If you are using T5s, you should be fine.
Yeah that’s what I’ve read that leds have a tendency to throw them off. I just want a general idea. I’ll post my results

I put my lux meter in a sealed plastic bag and tested with it underwater. The bag attenuated a LOT of the power.
