i was just using phenotype as a layman example; this really isn’t a technical forum. no, i’m not a geneticist; just someone who will have a BS in Biology after this summer. i wasn’t trying to be contentious in the earlier posts, excuse me if you interpreted it that way.
Andrew, Please don’t take offense to my asking if you are a geneticist. I only asked because it read as if you were saying that you were. I enjoy a good debate on issues that I find interesting. I am not a geneticist either. I am interested in how we impact our environment, I just try to avoid jumping to conclusions too quickly.
On an entirely unrelated note, I did a research project last summer on the levels of benthic meiofauna in replenished versus natural sand beaches in Delaware. Some interesting information, but far too small a study to draw any valid conclusions. It is something I would like to look into further this summer, are you interested in offering some ideas about setting up controls, etc.?
i’ve always been interested in the littoral species along out coast, shoot me a pm about it. i am in full agreement about not jumping to conclusions; from my perspective, it just seams clear that we are altering the genetics of certain fish species from selective fishing practices.
