are these eggs?and a tiny starfish pictures

about 3 days old. on back of tank, very very thin. about the size of a pin head. any i.d. possibilities/guesses?

starfish probably a hitchiker from sneaky’s rock.

pen point for comparison

ive had snail eggs before but they closely resemble frogs eggs, like tadpole sacks…

im not 100% sure, but those could be the start of those little soft sponge like filter feeders that ive had grow in my 'fuge before…they are like sponge/feather dusters…

thats just my :TWOCENTS :TWOCENTS

The eggs are probably from a snail. The starfish is an asternia star. They can multiply quite rapidly if conditions are right, but I have never seen them cause any problems in my tank.

Do the dots look like tiny swirls and appear to look like bleached coraline?
Probably not snail eggs as they are usually a trail and clustered. Most likely SPIRORBID WORMS, filter feeder - good

Asterina Stars

i think the star fish is bad. i talked to a guy and he said they can earitate zoanthis and cause them to close up. i could be wrong. ? about the eggs

That type is usually fine but are in the same family there are a few bad apples or stars if you will. Lots of local reefers have them without issue

guess i wait and see. thanks to the id’ers.

I have well over 100 of these little stars in our tank. I havent noticed them ever harm anything in the tank, even though I have a large colony of zoas. As far as I am concerned they are a good part of the “micro” clean up crew right up there with stomotella snails and baby brittle stars.

If I believed everything I ever heard about marine animals, my head would pop with conflicting information. There is one species of starfish like this that can pray on corals and I have never ever seen a single specimen in person or heard of anyone on any forum that has actually had the bad type. I’ve also hardly known anyone not to run across the other types which do not harm corals. Only problem can be when they start to eat a little coralline and actually they may help spread it by eating it similar to urchins.

The eggs like things really look like egg sacs which appear in Andy’s tank all the time. 4n4ced4 or what ever his screen name is. They never seem to amount to anything in his tank though.
