ATO

I was thinking about buying this. Is this all I need?

Check and see if you already don’t have a ASOV on your RODI and then all you will need is the float valve.
also with these ASOV systems they work on back pressure to shut off supply water so it may run out the waste water line for some time after the float stops the flow to the container. The other method uses a float switch and solenoid valve which will shut the supply water off as soon as the float switch is tripped.

Are you topping off your tank directly with the RO unit Or are you topping off into an additional reservoir ?

never really gave that a thought. Which one is the better idea?

I believe it does already have the ASOV

I guess i labeled this thread wrong lol but its ok because I need both the ATO and ASO .

please correct me if im wrong but don’t you have to purge the first couple of minutes? give or take a few to get TDS down with your RO unit. I think I got that from Melevs site. We put ours in a Bucket and ATO from there. Not to bad better than doing it a gallon at a time every day

I am getting tired of topping it off with a bucket every night also. Good thing I have my husband because he remembers to do it if I forget. Which most nights I forget lol

That’s the one with the solenoid valve right? Those r nice.

just my .02— I dont trust ATOs that are plumbed to my RODI. I have read of too many tank floods and failures. personally, I have a 10g of kalkwater next to my sump. I use a aqua lifter with a float valve in my sump. the aqua lifter is on a timer that kicks on for about 15 min a day and moves the water over. all I need to do is fill the 10g every week or so. never had a failure with this system in over 8ys of use.

IMO - never directly top off with the RO. If something fails, you’re pumping fresh water in until you realize what’s going on. Always pump to a separate reservoir, then have that top off the tank.
