Background paint color

Setting up a new 75g and I’m planning on painting the back. Any suggestions on color? I picked up some cans of this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/Krylon-K09166000-COVERMAXX-Island-Splash/dp/B013LT6668 from Walmart. But now I’m not sure if I want a lighter blue or a darker blue.

Anyone have pics of a tank with a similar color background?

I’ve always been a fan of dark blue backgrounds. There’s a picture of my old 75g on my website (http://www.engineersreef.com) that you can see. I’d post it here, but I can’t get to it from my work laptop.

That’s another great idea. I ended up finding a darker blue at home depot that I liked more.

It’s a satin finish which I think I would prefer.

Definitely go with the satin finish. I usually just spray paint it as well.

I really like how it came out, but it will be a few days before I know how it will look filled.

Why does everyone always use blue?

Because the ocean is blue!

To be honest I google searched background colors and looked at pics. I wasn’t fond of the black look and it seemed to be either black or blue. Hopefully by next weekend I’ll have some pics of the tank setup, I have until Friday to get everything out of our old house.

Tank is up and running. Had a set back when I first moved everything over because I had the tank very close to the wall (bottom drain). Couldn’t get the sump under the stand, so I had to drain the tank down again and a few friends helped me move it out from the wall enough. I really like how the paint came out.

Thanks, I have to play with the new light a bit to see if I can get better pics. I’m really liking the Orbit Marine Pro light.
