Hi Jason, you are the man! That is ALOT of hard work. GolfC
Very nice.
Thanks!
I made an error in the above post. The first pic/video is Spawn #10. Spawn #11 won’t hatch until Friday.
looking good! It’s striking to see the genetic distribution in the batches of fries. like science class, looking for red eyed flies. Cool.
Once they are past morphing, they are pretty stable and easy to care for, with good water quality and food. it wont belong until they are large.
I recently lost an entire batch on day 37. Something wasn’t right in the tank though.
I was losing 1-2 fish every night for about a week. Then the entire batch crashed in under 24 hours. Never did figure out what it was…

Just a food for thought Jason, http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-03/rs/feature/index.php
I lost 90 of 120 3 month old fish one night when an air pump for the sponge filter crapped out. they just suffocated and died from toxic water in the 10 gallon tank when the sponge filter died. so after that i had sponge filters and bio wheel filters on each. higher capacity. i just had too many fish in a small tank they quickly grew out of. it was an ok size when they were a month old and 1/4 inch, but not enough at 3 and 3/4 inch. too much bio load.

That’s a very interesting read. I’d like to try the salt he is suggesting.
So this was Spawn 8 at the beginning of the month at 33 DPH…
And here they are today at 59 DPH!
I didn’t think the shredded fish in the middle was going to survive but he appears to be getting stronger each day. “Number 7” is at the top of this pic too…
Really cool Picasso in the lower left.
WOW, you’ve got some very nice variants in there. You are doing good!!!
Spawn of Jason… Have i seen that movie before? Their large orange circled black eyes … looking out ominously from their pale white bodies… as they endlessly stalk about their dimly lit tank… And then all of a sudden~~~
Impressive, your project is really coming along ::
It’s great the way you can predict the percentage of picassos from each batch. you will have lots of misbars and regular looking fish to sell also. In your research, have you found that the misbars might also produce the same picasso variant in the same ratios?
Spawn #8 108 DPH. Going to do a big photo update for the 4 month mark.
looking great, jason. it’s amazing the results youve gotten. big congrats! GolfC
looks like their coming along. looks great!
looking good :: i would be interested in one down the line
I figured I would throw this out there. So yesterday I was out with my GF and we went to World Cafe Live to see her friend Cindy perform, well Cindy and Jason were both performing, and I never met Jason before and turns out he breeds clowns, is into reef tanks and is a member here. Totally random how people meet for the first time lol.I was happy to have someone to talk tanks to while we drank some cold ones.
Looking good Jason!!
Looking great Jason!! PBJ! YahoO
How old are they now??
