Yes, putting Rotifer bucket water into the larval tank is bad. it can have ammonia and other waste built up in it. not much but too much for the larvae. and then its a water management problem. I only filled my 5 gallon tank half way the first 10 days. the idea is to keep the fry in a small, food rich area. they cant swim very far. so concentrate . I also added some algae paste to the larval tank and rotifers. keeps the rotifers well fed, until eaten. a little bit of live micro algae would be better. with a little light over the tank, it will grow and keep the water clean. I tried a little bottle of DT’s. seemed to work.
if i ever get a breeding pair id like to try something similar to this…what do you think?[/quote]
Very cool. I’m not sure how necessary it is for clownfish larvae. They seem to be a lot more resilient than the species that require a Kreisel. Still, I might consider giving this a try. I love the idea of quintupling the water volume while still keeping the food consentrated. Not to mention how much safer it would be for the fry. Very cool, indeed.

I slept on it and decided I want to try this. It will give the fry a much better chance of surviving, especially when I’m stuck working 12 hour days at work.
