Battery Back up

I hate power outages. I’ve never been so thankful to hear the hum of my Vortech MP10 and MP40 as I was tonight about 30 minutes after the power went out. Earlier tonight I was discussing with Craig what it was like when I lost power to my softy system last year and then again tonight the tank sat perfectly still and stagnant. I’m ordering another MP40 and a battery back up tomorrow morning!

Can’t express how much time and energy has gone into taking care of the animals that live in this house. Doesn’t take long at all for things to start to go down hill.

man it seems like your power goes out alot

Why does your go out so much? I haven’t had a power outage in some 4 years.

Jon I thought you bought a generator a couple years ago.

Craig you’ve seen my basement recently. You haven’t seen the closet in the basement, lol. There is a pile literally to the ceiling of stuff above the generator. I would have to dig out the stuff and lug the thing up the steps and run the cords downstairs. Oh and I’d have to siphon gas out of one of the cars assuming there was enough left to siphon. If I was away on vacation it would be no help at all. I really wish I could afford a generator that automatically kicks on, but that is more then 10X the cost of a new MP40 and a battery back up.

I plan on soon moving the generator outside and under a cover to protect it from the weather and keep it out of view.(bolted to the deck, huge chain and lock)

I don’t know why our area is so bad. Last night was a bit scary. We kept hearing what would sound like stray voltage outside our house or huge surges of electricity and then the power would go out. ~6 times then finally it went out for at least an hour. Lots of development in our area, perhaps that has something to do with it. Also live not to far from major roads(wrecks) and open fields(lighting) where most of the lines are above ground.

Just my luck I suppose.

Looks like 12 hours later there is till outages up and down route 40. Over 1000 with out power right across the boarder in MD.

Hopefully Bill has power he is right on the edge of that area and was included in the outages last night I believe.
