Best clownfish species/genetic line?

Digging further into making my dream fish wish list I want to look at clownfish. I may decide to hold off on adding any to my current aquarium(4’ 120gallons) which is already pretty well stocked with 19 fish, but want to plan for the future when we upgrade.

For a long time I have been a fan of Black Ocellaris however if I purchased a pair of them I would really like to find some with out a maroon nose.

I likely won’t go with maroons, gold stripe or otherwise, as I’ve been bitten far to many times and want an overall peaceful tank.

I also think I may just go with a classic Ocellaris. I knew what a clownfish was before Nemo and part of the reason I setup my first tank was I wanted to purchase a clownfish.

Having just seen Platinums earlier today I kinda like them too…

HOW TO CHOOSE! Please weigh in and help me cement my list.

Sorry but I am still a big fan of plain old True Perculas. Looking forward to getting a pair when I upgrade and trade in my tomato.

Of course, platinums are cool as are clownfishsiushi’s new semi onyx. Got to see one at tonight’s meeting and have to say, I am really impressed.

me too, like u said, the others are cool.

but if the “others” were the standard, and then this great looking clown with perfect stripes ( nemo ) came about, then everyone would want one. imo…
i love the way a pair or occ’s look, especially rubbing in the toadstool with their stripes “visually intertwining” or something like that… and the contrast of those orange, black, and white lines is just awesome…
One of the best fish out there imho, everyones just nemo’d out i guess :stuck_out_tongue:

::thinking:: but then again there’s the appeal of having a pair of “one of a kind” type beauties…

there’s no wrong choice, just a difficult one verdict_in

It’s Evolution In Motion! Our tanks are an artificial microcosmic world we create for our critters. It is our responsibility to keep it all Healthy and Happy! Like, sometimes i wonder, who is pulling our strings? and why the heck are they so messed up?

But while we wallow in the unfolding, ecological disaster of our world and times, we can still protect and artificially maintain the small world of our little fishies, critters and corals. sheltered from reality.

The last refuge?

Amazing, Isn’t It?

What can we can Do?

LOL!

That Racoon Platinum is outrageous! Jason, you think those can be morph into just black and white without any of the orange coloring?

By the way, I my self as well, are true fan of plain old True Perculas. Seeing them in an anemone was the reason why I got into salt water keeping.

Good thing you said he looks awesome Craig, I think he would have kicked your butt if you didn’t.

::thinking::… ::rofl:: ::rofl:: ::rofl:: ::thumbsup::

That is a seriously amazing looking clown Jason.

Jason - I don’t see the raccoon on your website. Is that something you’re able to do consistently or was it a 1 off fluke, unable to be reproduced and leaving me wanting it forever?

Love my platy and picasso. Platy came from Jason at Clownfish sushi. Will jump on the next racoon he has.

As said before and by many, his fish are top notch.

I would love to see his onyx clown breeding with my snowflake :)That would be awesome if it had both genetics snowflake with the black markings of the onyx

Awesome :BEER
are the eyes lacking the orange? or it just the photo?

I said i’m a plain old nemo fan, but breeding variations like jason, has got to be exciting as all hell; just waiting to see what cool fish pops out next… I’m a fan ::thumbsup::

+1

The racoon is a rare morph. I do get them, just not often. I’ve raised maybe 4 or 5 clutches of picasso offspring and I’ve ended up with 4 or 5 racoons in total. I have none available currently.

I’ll let the club know in advance if any future spawns produce any racoons before I post them live on my site.

But back to the original post, my favorite clown is actually an Onyx. You can’t beat the coloration on the adults.
