big clam dies for no reason

is it possible he had a torn byssal gland from perhaps being removed from a rock? once they “glue” onto something removing them can be deadly, i lost a crocea that way from the foot being torn when i bought it (it had attached to the egg crate at the LFS). it went down hill from day 1.

i think a torn byssal would have killed it faster than 13 days. again a call for chris’s expertise. i’ll pm him on geeks.
mine didn’t go downhill at all, remained the same or very close to the same then died

ouch, no i was saying it could like a really really cool decoration in the house… i don know where you wold put it but it can loop the fish theme around the house… i love your family room area, its so nice…

i’m probably gonna put up the shell with some other lg shells .

Uhhh?? well to make the best of a bad thing… If you clean the shell up, bleach it, declor, and dry and polish a bit, you could epoxy coat it and it would make a great conversation piece Clam Dip server!

You could probably sell them on EBay for a hundred dollars each half, and then go buy another clam.

just a thawt…

great idea ken. is this out of experience at ebay or just a thawt?

Ken sell on ebay. He just upgraded from a dial up modem last year.

there are tiny predatory snails that enter the clams shell where it would attach to a rock. you might want to look into this as well. check your remaining clams. i hear they kill a clam very quickly.
