As state in the subject line. Where can I get some black PVC and fittings? I search online, but nothing came up. And of course none locally.
Have you checked HD and Lowes? What size are you looking for?
I check both here in Dover, none has it. Looking for 1" pipe rigid not flex about 24" and 2 x 1" T-fittings with threaded end at the bottom and slip at the T.
Try looking for Grey Schedule 40. Will be a lot easier to come by. Why is it your looking for black? I assume there is some pipe somewhere visible inside your tank? If you are just looking for a short section of pipe and a couple fittings I may have them.
Many people have painted pipe with Krylon spray paint and there is a type that does not appear to ever cause damage in a tank, however it typically comes off pretty easily and the white coming out from behind the black looks pretty bad.
Jon, you’re correct. I’m planing on using it for my in tank returned with 2 flow eductor T-ing off of it. I heard about the spray paint, but little skeptical about it.
I have seen a selection of black sanitary waste PVC and fittings at the Lowes on 273, Ogletown road, near the old AVON plant. they had a section for RV plumbing. not sure ive seen them at any other lowes stores. something like this?
what size do you want. i could drop by the store next day or two and see what else they got. might only have large diameter for, you know, big chunky waste.
check with RV parts stores too. or maybe Glen, Martinsfamily has some around the shop.
looking further on the stores site, they have only these sizes.

I haven’t seen Glen on our site lately. I’ll ask when I see him.
Just paint regular pvc with krylon fusion. It is reef safe.
Best I could find just use a fitting to get to 1"
Thanks Will. I saw those PVC at usplastic website as well. I might have to give the krylon fusion a try. I read about it on RC.
I used the fusion paint also. It adheres better if you do a light sanding of the fittings first… just knock the shine off of them.
Snails have chewed the paint off in bits on the piece i DID NOT sand before painting.
works pretty good though for $4 :TWOCENTS
Thanks John. If I can’t find any black PVC, I’ll have to try that route.
schedule 80 pvc is dark gray in color.
I guess you never seen any black PVC, glen? I’ve seen schedule 80.
All the Black plumbing Ive seen is ABS or Black pipe
Yea, that’s all I’ve seen too. Guess I’m gonna try the krylon fusion route and do as John suggested.
Wonder how it would work painting the grey sch 80’s? ::
at least if the paint gets scratched for some reason the “white” pvc wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb…
That’s alright, I’ll have back ups. I’m not gonna glue the pipe to the return bulkhead.
I have seen black pipe in the section for lawn irrigation and sprinkler systems. They (Lowes on 273) carry a few sizes and fittings, tees and adapters.
The black stuff is abs pipe, not PVC. I don’t know if it makes a difference for a reef tank, but it may help you find it.
Schedule 80 is heavy, may fall off or put extra stress on whatever is holding it. Grey schedule 40 weights just as much as white schedule 40 and is a dark grey that appears black from a distance.
Spears and several other companies make grey Sch 40, isn’t that hard to track down.
