So I got my shipment snails today. Was putting them in the tank and when I looked down my blue hermits (both of them) must have decided that I just put dinner in the tank. I am pretty sure the bigger one got at least one of the snails. I seriously have not seen them move that quick before. Oh well.
So not only did some of my snails not make it 6 months, I don’t think they made it 6 minutes.
get use to it. they will kill for food and snail shell. if they have enough to pick on they will slow down on snails but they move from shell to shell so get a larger snail clean up crew every time. i get 30 or so each order just to keep the number raising not decreasing.
You can start a used shell lot, thats what I did. They trade back and forth all the time. If you get some tiny hermits, they look pretty cool in nass. snail shells. I usually try to make sure some of my food sits on the bottom for the hermits and such once a week or so
The one that was really hungry has be shell hopping. I just got some new empty shells over the weekend. He went and picked on the snails that those shells were too small for him. It was funny the scarlets don’t seem to care but the blues went to investigate.
I knew it would happen but I didn’t expect it to happen in the first 5 minutes.
Just for a hint, JoeAnnes fabrics sells bags of shells for like 2$. Tons of potiental hermit shells in there.
