Brett, frag swap

BUUUUUUUUUTT, somebody brought shame and dishonor to the house of eca. By accident I am sure. We made a new friend today, A young guy named Brent from Delaware. He won at auction a bow front aquarium and lights, He paid for his items and continued socializing and enjoying his day. But when it came time for him too leave, somebody had already packed up and took his aquarium and lights. (again I am sure it was not intentional,) so please do the honorable thing you could just leave the items at our back door if you like, but if you realize that you packed up more than you intended, do the right thing.

thanks again, I hope I didn’t insult anyone but it was very disheartening, that such things could happen to the young man.

see you soon
matt

Anyone have an update on this? I had the pleasure of talking with Brent and his mom for a while and i could see that Brent was having a blast, i would hate to see this put a big damper on the day.

If Brent doesnt get what he bought back I have a 29g that ill give him. I dont know how to get a hold of him so if anyone does tell him to e-mail me chris@reefaquariumforum.com

But let’s see of we can get what he bought back.

Anyone have any lights they can give to Brent that are about the same as what he paid for?

I suspect this is Brett - BZ350

Moliken just said the same thing. Ill send him a PM

This just sucks. I know how excited his mom was for him to have a new project to work on with school just getting out for the summer. I sure hope it was an accident. I wish I had an extra set of lights to give him.

What kind of lights were they?

I dont know. I wasnt watching the auction much

That really sucks. I really hope someone mans up and gets him his stuff back, hopefully just an honest mistake.

Hope so, poor kids been wanting a bigger tank. >::: Maybe someone will return it!!

well i had my hand full of frags last night and didnt have a chance to make a post.
name correction brett lol.
yah the tank was gone after we went in to buy some more frags. all and all the day was great but it sucked when we couldnt find the tank and lights. hopefully the tank will show up, pretty sweet set up. i guess all i can do is wait for someone to come foward. im sure this was a mistake but i would really like my tank back. thanks brett

what size was the tank??? (trying to figure out what i can get my hands on… tank and light wise)

That is a damned shame. I hope it shows up.

sorry to hear that this happened. i hope for the best, but fear that there will be noone man enough to admit they took it. it is sad that things like this happen when most of us in this hobby would give away things rather than selll them. i have a standard 55 gallon i will give bz if he wants it.

Sorry for the name mixup Brett verdict_in

If the tank doesn’t turn up let me know, i have a 29g that you can have. Its not a bow front but a standard 29g. Its all yours if you want it, just sitting in the basement empty right now.

wow Brett that sucks big time, especially after the deal u ended up with on that sweet tank…when i left, cuz my last number was #102…i really think it was still there up against the wall, so i doubt this was a mistake…it was the last item just sitting there…along with the tank and stand closer to the road…that no one could pick up and walk away with…

but u never know, good luck…

Nobody could mistakenly put a tank in their car and drive away thinking it was theirs. It was stolen. Hopefully someone drops it off at ECA because they feel bad.

Opps how did that get here???

So just out of curiosity, where should liability for this lie? Brett for not securing it at the time of purchase or ECA for not securing it until time of delivery? I relaize that no one would have EVER forseen something like this happening, and it really does suck. I’m not placing blame (the blame lies soley on the ignorant SOB who took it). I’m just curious as to what other opinions are on this.

i honestly think ECA did their part…i know they had to be worried more about the security of the inside of the store tho…there were a lot of people who werent even there for the coral event browsing around outside which is always a possibility, because i find it hard to believe someone in the event took the tank…especially since everyone was gathered around for all 5 people who took place in the auction…i think the tank went for like $15-20…so if someone at the event wanted it, im sure they couldve did some bidding and won…there was also another sweet nano tank that went for like $15…i think this may have been an outside job.

I wasn’t there and have no idea how things were done…but I would assume ECA should have made aware to everyone that the items weren’t going to be watched and should be accounted for as soon as they were won. I think who ever wins an item (especially after payment) is responsible for securing their items.

This by far has to be the worst thing I have heard of in this hobby. I was telling my friend how nice the people are in the hobby. Everyone that I have met has been upstanding and honest. We rely on trust with this thing. We sell things through word of mouth and by things based on trust that a person wont stiff you.

To hear this is horrible. If someone wants to get together and help him out I would down to chip. Sorry to hear that.

I just saw Matt post this

Brets aquarium and lights were dropped off at our back door, as I had asked. Therefore we can say it was nothing more than an honest mistake. honor has been restored to the house of E.C.A.. Bret from delaware please come pick up your aquarium.
