Brett's 90 gallon reef

Brett I’ve found that my overflows (done just like yours) have a tendency to be a little noisy. If oyu replace the down 90 (on the dry side) with a ‘T’ and adding a little height on the toop 1/2 you should be able to significantly reduce any sucking sounds you may currently be getting.

Of course if ti were me I’d drill a 2nd drain too - just a little redundency (given my success with water on the floor)

Everything looks really good on this - well done.

I just looked over the thread and can’t seem to find what i missed… i thought you had a 90g reefready, is this another setup all together?

thanks for the compliments guys, btw im pretty old…15

i have a 90 gallon reef ready and i will be plumbing in a 29 and a 20. the 29 will be a frag tank so i have a place to put my frag once they start growing. the drilled 20 will be my fuge. the 20 that is currently under the tank will be my sump. It will all make sence soon enough haha.

mike- i was trying to stop micro bubble without slowing my flow. the top of the cap has a whole in it to allow gas to escape and i thought it would solve my problem. unfortunatly it did not, infact it made my overflow louder. i stuck a piece of ro tubeing in there and it silented the overflow.

i will be teeing off the pump this week which will take care of my problem.
This is all in reference to my 90 which is reef ready. the other 2 tanks are not plumbed in as of yet.

ok re-read the post and its starting to make sence. if i did not explain this well enough let me know, ill try to do better, haha

The tank is looking good Brett. I am super jealous that you are getting LED lights. I would love to have some over my 95 , but I just can’t justify the cost since I have a great t-5 fixture.

I can’t wait to see this tank stocked with corals. Are planning a mixed reef?

i really need to get an update going haha. I plumbed everything together and just got my first fish yesterday.

the leds should be here soon. i cant wait to see them.

The stock will be mostly SPS with some acans, chalices, and whatever else looks really cool.

well heres the update…

My corner

The 2 new additions

Macros are growing much better now that my magnesium is up

My ph monitor

Pictures of new addition-- Lemon Peel Mimic Tang A.K.A Bubbles
had premium order him for me and cant be happier!

Your setup is looking good Brett.

Looks good Brett, you’ve been busy :BEER and Very nice looking tang!

WOW Brett! You are building a really fine fish room. I guess you will be ready for frags soon as the lights come in. Dont worry, the prolifera will pick up when you get a bit of bio load in the tanks. Probably hungry right now with the skimmeer running. I like Lemon Peels. they are nice fish. looks a little like the baby Atlantic blue tang i bought recently. its yellow with a blue ring around its eye and a blue halo on the tip of its fins until it grows up and turns blue. Say when.

Looking good Brett. Coming along nicely

i have been really busy but finally had some time to update the thread. Biggest thing is that i got my LEDs. i LOVE them. really nice. I have them hung about 10-12 inches above the tank. i took my old t-5 fixture and hung it over my frag tank. i upgraded my heaters too. Will not be long before i start stocking the tank.

lookin mighty bright, brett. not any shade either. congrats! what is your schedule on the timers? what’s the max brightness? i have mine at almost maximum for about 4 hours, 11-3. the way it seems like a real day [low to bright to low] is just amazing.

Coming along nicely Brett, altho BB is not my cup of tea. But we can debate that some other time. On your BRS reactor, carbon stage should have foam pushing carbon all the way up so it will not tumble, and grind away particles. On GFO stage you can loose one pre foam pad and just keep it as replacement part when you need it.
Nice lights btw.

Which company did you purchase your lights from?

Coming along nicely Brett! one ? though, wouldn’t the light be better with out the cover over the tank?

my basement is very cold (60 degrees), i would lose alot more water from evaporation if i did not have them. The lids dont really matter as i can just bump up my %s.

i ramp up to 40% around 3. I will mess with the lights more once i get my fish and coral. ill post some morw info on them soon, just feel horrible right now: sick.

Use evaporation to your advantage, the more it evaporates, the more kalkwasser you can drip replacing evaporation. Its a win win
BRS has awesome kalkwasser stirrer and media, here is links on how to use it

Feel better soon

The Lights are looking good Brett! You’re back in business. Just say when you are ready for some frags, and I’ll get busy. I Can’t wait to see how they do under your new and improved lighing.

Oh, you know, if you feel like you need covers on the tanks, you could make some out of plexi. acrylic is much more transparent than glass. the Iron in glass that makes it a little green filters more of the light .

Setup is looking good, love the clarity and color of those LEDs!

brett, are your fans coming on?
