I’m trying to figure out what would make my calcium level so high. Test this morning shows it to be well over 500. I’m also looking for suggestions on the best way to get lowered to a more acceptable level, all other parameters seem to be ok, any ideas are greatly appreciated
Are you dosing anything?
Running a small amount of gfo and carbon in a reactor, thats it.
What test kit are you using? Also what brand of salt?
API, but I’m about to check it with a hanna in a bit. IO for salt, been using it forever with no issues.
Well, the api reading was about 520 ppm, acording to the hanna its at 459 ppm. So a pretty wide spread. I did a 20 percent water change earlier today so I think I’ll check it again tomm. Evening with both kits again and see what it says, Ill post those readings.
What is your calcium level of your source water?
Honestly I’ve never thought to test my source water. I use Rodi and all ive ever tested it for is Tds, which is 0
IO has a calc level around 375, so it shouldn’t be the salt. Have you checked your salinity? Also, did you mix the salt before starting to use it?
