Captive bred variety

I know that there are ALOT of cool captive bred fishes out there already but dose anyone know about any cool new fish they’ve recently captive bred that there planning to sell commercially? How about captive bred jawfish dose anyone know we’re i can get one of those?

well, some one, some where has bred them in tanks so far. but thats not to assume it has or can be done economically on a comercial level. given the relativley low cost of wild catch.

Harder fish to captive breed are broadcast spawners, like Tangs. but that has been done successfully too, at places like Atlantis Marine World aquarium. in their 20,000 gallon reef tank.

In the past, i have captive bred a couple hundred Banggai Cardinal fish, and also the ever popular Nemo’s and successfully marketed them and found them all good Reef Tank homes. Have you searched the internet? My quick search shows an abundance of info.

I dont know much about Jawfish life cycle, but it seems they may be mouth brooders like this species.

which would make other varieties a good candidate for you to try, if you like, in your own tank. Im sure it will involve growing and cultivating special live food for the baby fish. which is the usual challenge.

If you choose to accept this assignment, Mr. Phelps.

I see the captive bred clarion angel commands top dollar.

No I don’t plan on captive breeding them . I just wanted to know if anyone knows where to get them captive bred .I’ve searched and asked all over and no one seems to know how to get them. I don’t mind getting a wild individual but seince they can be captive bred if it weren’t to much more costly I would probably invest in a captive bred specimen.

I have searched the Internet I just wanted to see if some one knew about some special site that has them that I haven’t found yet. And I agree it’s crazy how expensive some of these angels and things are captive bred! I know there gonna try breeding purple tangs commercially soon I hope that works out well.

Something I have also noticed is the fish they try to captive breed are ones that are already rare or expensive so that they can compete in prices you know fish like assesors, angels ect. Now that I think about it that’s probably why most fish like hawkfish damsel fish and jawfish haven’t been sold captive bred commercialy because there no profit in it.

Your local store in newark (DPA) carries captive bred fish from Sustainable aquatics. They will order what you woud like, a deposit may be required depending on what it is.

Our club sponsor ASR in Frazier, PA often gets captive bred from ORA. I’m sure Mike will order you a fish, but you need to inquire first.ORA Fish | ORA | Oceans, Reefs & Aquariums

The manager at Petco (Kirkwood Hwy.) will special order fish (they use Seagrest Farms who has captive bred fish) but you must pay in advance and pick it up when it arrives at the store as they will not acclimate it in their system.

All of these are local options that do not require costly shipping. However you must consult the store for details of how to make it smooth and timely for the fish and the parties involved. Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the help guys I look into those options

Ask ur LFS to order u some stuff ORA, everything is aquacultured or CB.
