I could use some, I am starting a 2nd refugium and I want to only use cheato, My other one has a mixture of different sea grasses and it is almost impossible to seperate just the cheato out.
I am up north if you are by this area or maybe I can swing by the next meeting.
I am prolly heading to the next meeting, but I also live in North Wilmington.
i’d take a small fist-size piece at nxt mtg, for sure. thnx

How about a nice sandwich bag?
I have a good bit of it left I could easily make several sandwich bags. It is all just sitting in my back up tank with the blennie and one eyed clownfish.
I also have the calcium absorbing algae I could bring with me.
maybe I will just bring a bunch of both.

That would be cool, whats the deal with the calcium absorbing stuff? Never heard of such a thing, most people are always worried about raising calcium rather then lowering.
halimeda it uses calcium to build but also releases calcium when it dies so its like a calcium stabilizer. mine grows with elevated calcium and dies when it drops. it keeps your levels more stable imo

Hey I am new to this group and so far I have gotten some really good feedback. While browsing forums I came across your post for cheato (which I need starting my first sump/fuge). My fuge area is 12x12x11. How much would i need? My setup is a 75 gal with a 20 gal long sump/fuge. And since the next meeting is the 19th how much would you charge? Also this being my first meeting that im hoping to attend I will be looking forward to gaining a bunch of knowledge/tips from senior reefers to help get me where i want to be. Thx in advance.
I am giving the cheato for free. tips are appreciated but not asked of since everyone with cheato ends up with an abundance at many points of having it in they’re fuge. 1 sandwich bag will be more then enough. I will try to pack them all well. I will be at the meeting with hopes of giving it to everyone in the beginning before Craig even starts talking haha…

sorry i didn’t grab the chaeto at the meeting. I was in fact there, but I had to rush out after the presentation because to get home to the dogs that had been alone for quite some time. But where are you located/do you still have some available? Thanks!!
I gave all the Cheato away last night. If you still need some I can still give you a portion from my main fuge. Will be sure to have a lot of micro organisms. My fuge is over run by life. I am in Newport. I could give you some this weekend. I still have a lot of Halimedia also. Just let me know.
