Ok maybe tonight or tomorrow i will leave take it to DPA and leave it there for a day. Hahaha should make it a contest. Who can open it without breaking it! hahaha. I just would prefer to not break it… cause i don’t have a lot of money considering spring break is coming up and i haven’t paid for everything yet.
k whats the prize?
Updates? Any luck getting this taken care of?
of course not lol, wait did i miss the meeting? I’ll have to bring it to DPA for like a few days and see what happens. no clue when i’ll have time though.
Hey guys!
Ok so I dropped off the light at DPA yesterday to see if any one can open it. I plan on picking it back up on Wednesday so that my tank doesn’t have any issues about not having light for awhile. I don’t really know how long it can go without light but i have heard of tanks doing ok after 4 day black outs or whatever. So go to DPA and have at it! Cause I need to change the bulb soon!
After hurricane Isabella, 5 years ago, my power was out for 5 days and everything crashed. xenia was the first to go at 3 days? polluted the tank and then a cascade. even a spiral 65ooK bulb over it would help a little. put some kind of light on it. of course i had no heat or pumps either.
well i am no help this week. so some others up north will surely be of assistance. i would just try to give alittle light to tank. even a lamp in close proximity would be fine. your critters may be afraid of the dark lOl but with filtration and heater you should be fine for a few days.

This would cost $12 too
I have like a floor lamp next to it that is always on, as well as it is by a window which i will just keep open
for now i guess.
The lamp has the wrong spectrum but you could put a 6500k Cp bulb in the fixture
I haven’t heard from DPA so I’m assuming that means it is not fixed yet. The tank looks fine though I’ve been keeping the window open all day so it can get light. None of corals look damaged or anything but should I be worried and get the light back any ways? I just really need to get that light opened though.
How long can my tank go without the proper lighting and not get harmed when i suddently add it back?
I’d go for as short as possible. You might want to shield everything from the light a little bit for the first few days. Not sure.
I’ll try to stop by DPA today to give the light a shot I guess.
Sorry I won’t be able to stop by today
No more worries guys, DPA called last night and they fixed it! New light bulb is in and everything. Ends up I was right… the dude painted over the light fixture, thus sealing the light fixture together. but oh well! It’s fixed now! Yay! PoM
Sweet, good job DPA. Good LFS there
