how do you acclimate clams? do you have to do a dip or does it hurt them? also, i read that you should not take out clams from the water when transporting them from one tank to the other because of air bubbles… is this true? I’m basically looking for any advice on clam acclimation because I plan to get one soon.
thanks in advance

what kind of clam u planning on?
I always drip them like snails or other inverts… dipping should be a last resort imo, but clams can have lots of unwanted hitch-hikers, so a good inspection, and toothbrush cleaning would be a minimum… quarantine would be best.
derasa’s seem pretty hardy, and grow fast. their shell is also pretty smooth and have less places for nasties to hide… good inexpensive starter clams imho.
no dipping. clams CAN easily be exposed to air, but they must bew turned in all directions when replaced underwater, called burping, to remove trapped air bubbles, which can kill them. drip acclimation works fine, but shouldn’t take much more than an hour, esplly for a shipped clam.
