CLEANING ROCK

I was recently given live rock from a friend at work that has green bubble on it and who knows what else. My question is: What is the best way to kill the various things on the rock? I will not put it in my tank unless it’s completely clean of bubble.
So as of right now I have it soaking in a 5 gal bucket of water and white vinegar. Prior to this the rock was dried out for at least 2 weeks. Will this do the trick? Or should I rinse it off and do something else? I need to know that it is clear of any bad things. Also I assume I will have to cure it again, is that correct? If so what is that process? What will I need to cure it?

I know I haven’t covered everything but this is a start.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Thanks Lee

i think, if it has been dry for 2 weeks and then soaked in a vinegar solution, it will not need to be cured. it will need to be seeded. u are pretty much dealing with base rock at this point. and i doubt the algae or anything else survived. could be wrong, but i really doubt it.

It’s about 5 or so pieces, so it’s not much, but I wasn’t going to take the chance on infecting any of my tanks. So in your opinion I should just scrub it, and rinse it off and it should be fine to put in the tank as base. Thanks for your reply

you could even boil it i have done this with rock before. then after boiling i used a small wire brush and scrubbed then rinsed and put in tank. other rock will help with seedind it back to life
