Ok, I went with the Avast with the optional float emergency shutoff.
The main deciding factor was getting to say “aarrrr” like a pirate everytime I show it off.

I finally got a new SD card for my camera and took some pics. Unfortunately, I need to learn to adjust the white balance and gamma all over again with these LEDs. The pics came out terrible. But here’s my update for now.
I hate LEDs. The spectrum is just wrong. Corals don’t grow.
My LPS is alive but not thriving. Since it’s been 6 months, I’d expect to see some growth.
All zoas are alive but not thriving. Again, it’s been 6 months and I’d expect the colonies to have grown. I don’t think a single zoa has split.
Sea fans are doing ok and showing some growth. Mushrooms are doing ok and showing some growth.
Some of the easier branching SPS is alive but not thriving. Just kinda there and not growing.
Montis are doing terrible. Clams are all dead.
The entire tank, including the sump, is getting covered with two different types of coraline. A pink and a green.
Algae growth is way down in the display. All parameters look good but having a little difficulty keeping up with the calcium and alk through dosing.
I’m considering adding a few t5’s under the canopy. I’ll let them be the primary source of light with the LED’s just barely on to supplement.
Sorry to hear about the lack of growth, I’m not sure if you have any t5’s on the tank or not but if not you might wanna look into them. Most people using led need to also add t5. This is the reason I still use mh and the reason billrob went back to mh from led. My issue with led fixtures is the top dollar fixtures seem to get the best growth. And for me it would cost about 3k! So I will stick with these for now.
Not to take this off topic but does anyone have any exp. with growth using radion Led lights just got a pair haven’t set them up yet.

Reefer I’m sorry to say, but I don’t think anybody in the club has spent the money on them. If anybody has nobody has made mention of it. Unfortunately you might be better off on rc or r2r asking questions about them.
I’m currently not running any t5’s but i’m hopeful that adding 2 or 4 bulbs will be enough to compensate for the shortcomings of the LED fixtures.
Anyone have thoughts on the cheapest way to add t5’s with individual reflectors under the canopy? I’m thinking there is enough room for a pair of t5’ up front and a pair of t5’s in the back.
They’ll need to be 60".
Or over lap 36" t5 2 in front 2 in back with short over lap, or do the same with 48" much cheaper and easier to find.
Jason, that’s what I run, welcome to come down and look at mine. Led with 4-36" t5s overlapped
I’ve run my tanks both with and without lights in addition to the LEDs. Personally, I’ve gotten pretty good growth with just LEDs. Nothing spectacular, but good enough for me. On my 75g I ran 2 T12 actinics and they added a nice extra punch of color. I can’t say anything was worse off when I stopped using them and ran just LED. I only had two LED colors on that tank.
I’m thinking about purchasing two of these for $102 total which includes shipping and bulbs…

It should be easy enough to provide a seat for them with the eurobrace under the canopy.

Your still gonna need 2 more bulbs, the 10k are useless for you, I would use 2 blue plus and 2 actinic(purple) not sure the correct color as I still use vho on my 325. 1 of each color in each fixture

That’s almost the exact configuration I ran in my old setup except I swapped one of the actinic with their red spectrum bulb. I’m blanking on what it’s called but it really made the reds pop in the tank. At the very least I’ll replace the 10k that come with the fixture with blue plus.
Can those lights be mounted to the hood? Me personally wouldn’t want them on the tank, would be a pain in the arse to feed and move the light or drop 1 end in the tank! Oops! That’s just me.

Well I won’t be drinking beer while feeding the fish. Haha
I’ve got a good plan in mind. I know how to make it so the t5’s won’t be able to fall in and that they won’t get in the way of anything.
I’m going to pull the trigger and order those lights. Feeling good about this.
Hows the algae filter doing?

Algae scrubber is doing awesome. I wouldn’t change a thing. I get a nice mat of green turf algae growing every week.
I scrape the display tank about as often and it’s only the finest film coming off the glass.
Probably 1-2 days after scraping right? Let me know when you want to get rid of your LEDs, I think I can find them a good home

I’ll let you know if they ever need adoption. I plan on keeping them. It sounds like they do ok, especially when paired with T5.
