club emergency response team and why we need one.

so i think a emergency response team is a must for are club. im thinking on a volunteer basis people on the team are supplied with a tote ( that can be used to hold/ transport live stock) in the tote would be batt pumps live stock bags the silicone that can be used to stop a tank leak form the in side and im sure other people will have good ideas. club members would be able to call for help when it is realy needed. i would be willing to be the first volunteer. the reasion i have desided this is so inportant to me, is there was a fire in my apt bulding last night. they cleared every one out at midnight and me a 2 am i guess i sleep hard and was left behind. it wasnt bad and i was let back in a 4am but for 2 hr we didnt know if we were geting back in we might have just been able to grab stuff. i thought that was it i lost my tank. :-(" jen was out of town for all for this showing her horseshoew crab research. i was gona call bj form the fb if i had to and save wat i could. needless to say i had a bad night. all is well with the tank but the what if is killing me. also the wat if and y no one kicked my door in like all the others? i woke up to a maintenance man in my bed room door way.( i had the big knife that sits on the bed side stand out and under the covers). so back to to the main point i realy think we need this for the club.

Lol, sounds like a fun night! Glad nothing bad happened to you personally or your stuff!

i can’t tell you how many times i’ve set off the fire alarm in my old apt building! you can get used to that annoyingly loud chirping…i came close to sleeping through the alarm many times

Its a good idea, but the club is very spread out… or have like the pres and the VP hold a backup system and when someone needs it they can call

dude… u ABSOLUTELY should of called me!!! even if not for the tank, u could of hung out at my place (im like 2 blocks away!!!) im really glad to hear everything turned out ok.

Matter of fact if anyone locally has an issue, give me a call. I do have a key to the store. Here is my home # 302-734-4696.

GolfC Good job with that, i cant blame you (i keep a loaded .45 in my night stand)

Might i recommend adding towels and a shop vac that can be used for water on the list.

John, glad to hear everything made it… and that you didn’t stab the Maintnance man. Sounds like a fun night. We used to have that happen in college when some stupid freshman would try to make popcorn and catch the microwave on fire… nothing like standing outside in pj pants, in maine, in december, and knowing that it is just burnt popcorn.

the 2 people to the left of my apt are totaled. so i deff got lucky. how do people feel about the response team idea.

I think it is a great idea and one I have had myself. I think we should discuss it at the next meeting, and make it happen.

what about me dont i count john? lol i would be there as well if you needed me. but ya a few local helpers is a great idea. i am foing to be moving my 90 around for new flooring and painting ect in about 5 months or so. and that would be a big help for me just getting tank squared away. put me down for a volenter for the dover are. and a plumber for you house is also available …lol just glad i were not woke up he may have had 10 rounds from my berretta…

yep i was gona call you also glen if i needed ya. and im glad the guy yelled from across the room well out of knife range. i have been meaning to get a kimber for the bed side but then i would have had a mess all over my floor.

Sweet he fights fires to! Have to put that number on speed dial. Did we end up discussing this at all yesterday? Too much covered in too short of a time. I forget.

nah, didnt go over it.

We could add a collection of fish meds too for outbreaks of ick and stuff. I have won a bunch of meds in the DSAS raffles that i have rarely used. my fish stay healthy i guess. but toxic as they are i hate to throw them away. and you cant always find what you need when stuff happens, or you dont need the big bottle full or box of tabs. just a thawt. use at your own risk, since we arent prescribing. but sometimes one is desperate to save a favorite fish, but why buy a dozen meds to see which one works. just more waste.
a first aid kit?

i dont know about silicone to stop a leak? does that work, doesnt seem like it would have much time to set :-p. sounds good, i know theres a few times powers gone out and i had been putting off a battery backup or a air pump. how bout a battery backup system? i would pitch in on the expense.
i also have a bottle of flatworm exit to throw in there. A submersible pump is a must, it sucks to have a pump die at 9:01 PM.
it would be a little better to have 3 one for each county, or atleast 2, but lets get started on one first.

everyone just brainstorm what can cause a tank crash, and think of the solutino
